Intersting how sexed being "Non-binary" is; At least 95% of "NB folx" I've encountered are young girls, late 20s at oldest, but mostly around teens, to college-age, who may wear slightly "quirky", "alt" clothes, noserings, oddball haircuts. But they tend to be pretty introverted, quiet, probably won't speak much around people they don't know... But then you have that small minority of "NB" who are men- Who are almost universally gay, MUCH older, 30's or 40s, like this weiedo, of Jeffry Marsh. Who are dominant, preachy, THEY know how everyone should act, and they DO NOT hesitate to tell you. While NB girls are mostly self-effacing, and avoid tooting their own horn, these guys CAN'T GET ENOUGH of telling the world how super-awesome, and inspiring, and INCREDIBLY humble they are. The whole concept of "NB" serves a totally different purpose, for women (really "girls", more than "women") vs men. For girls, "NB" is a way to escape the sexualization and expectations of womanhood; It's almost like trying to stay in childhood/adolescence, when there's less rigid differences in expectations, for each sex. But for the men, "NB" is a soapbox; A way for left-wing, middle-class men to get some extra "oppression" points, to allow them (in lefty circles) to speak over others. It lets them act like some weird " guru", in a way that nobody would tolerate, without their gender-special status.
@JackxJewell

I totally agree with this analysis - I've thought before about non binary female VS non binary males. There is definitely a difference (on average!) It makes me cringe to see organisations and bodies talk about having more 'non binary inclusion' or 'the first NB person to win...' It literally means nothing!
@souxcasa
Ай бұрын
Agreed, women transition to opt out of misogyny, men transition to opt in. Non binary is a way to reject womanhood without having to fully transition. I think it's disrespectful to all the women that came before and fought tooth and nail for the rights they have. To just opt out of womanhood is allowing misogyny to continue

NB girls are just as loud and obnoxious. Have you not been on Tik Tok or gone to a gay Pride event? So many straight NB girls co-opting the pride movement now to feel edgy and be part of the in crowd. Pathetic…. They are almost always self involved narcissists… just like these NB men.

Hi, I can speak to this. Masculine clothing is considered unisex and masculine women are far more socially acceptable than the other way around, so there is a filtration bias. Femininity is perceived as sexual so NB males "in drag" seems more outlandish, also they have not had the chance to experiment w clothing like teen girls so are likely to be a little kookier as men's wear is very boring. Also I think it's a defense mechanism as far as embracing the fact that they'll be seen as freaks anyway. Re clothing style, due to generational differences in what's acceptable means most out nb people are gen z or younger and those styles you describe are also generational.

@@noamjen that's actually the whole problem that has made this brainwashing psy op so successful.... People don't want to accept who and what they are.... They instead want to cling to labels... That is the ego at work.... You are absolutely right.... Accept yourself if you're not traditionally good looking... Accept yourself if you're a feminine male or a masculine female.... That's where our real power lies.... And I also totally agree that true beauty comes from within.... True sexiness and beauty is an essence.... 22:20 I would _love_ to talk with you about Beau Brummel, one of the most fascinating men in history and a powerful testament to how much influence one man with strong opinions can have. Brummel invented what is called the "Dandy Style," he was the original dandy. That word has come to mean a man unduly devoted to style, neatness, and fashion in dress and appearance, but originally it referred to an aesthetic in men's fashion, an aesthetic which still has a powerful influence on men today. Core to Brummel's philosophy on male fashion was his belief that male fashion should accentuate the masculinity of men. He _loathed_ the styles of his time, which was towards voluminous clothes that hid the figure, powdered wigs, and cake-like make-up. Brummel believed men should not wear any kind of make-up or perfume, should be clean-shaven, with short natural hair. You would pass Brummel's grooming standards with flying colors. But even more than the grooming aethetics, he cared about how men dressed. His concept of the masculine ideal in clothing was a dark, fitted jacket over a button-down shirt and cravat, light trousers that fit snugly, and boots. This outfit was designed to showcase and flatter the V shape of the male body. It's now only seen in formal wear -- the formal tuxedo is a direct descendent of Brummel's style, but the business suit is essentially a post-industrial, mass producible version of Brummel's style. Brummel's style has defined men's fashion for about 250 years, and was only really challenged in the 20th century by the working class aesthetics of Marlon Brando and James Dean, and later the Miami fashions of Don Johnson on Miami Vice. You are definitely right though, men's fashion is not arbitrary, it is intended to highlight and accentuate the appeal of male bodies. Men look better in men's clothing (when properly tailored) because men's clothing is designed to make men look better. Also, as a side note, I don't hate Alok Vaid-Menon because he dresses like a woman. I hate him because he's *tacky as f_ck.*

I'm am so tired of people wallowing in victimhood and almost heralding being a captive to the hardships real or otherwise they have experienced. I was a child of The Troubles. Some of the s*it I saw and experienced both first hand and indirectly was horrific. The world doesn't owe me a living or an apology and it doesn't give me a carte blanch to go through life gaslighting others. I am amazed at people claiming they are triggered or suffered 'trauma' because someone uses a hurty word or uses the wrong pronoun. The word "trauma" is over used, misunderstood and often used by people who have no understanding of what the word actually means. His BS makes me angry. I cannot fathom the platform he is afforded and why his rhetoric is unchallenged. I find him and people who indulge this phoney professional victim ridiculous. You broke my heart Jodie Foster!

The most basic classification system in ALL human societies and cultures is binary because that is the way humans are physically arranged. just reacting to the video... 1. if someone willing makes themselves a "freakshow", its not the responsibility of other to people to pretend they aren't. 2. beauty is absolutely about determining what should be. if beauty was just "what is", then the term "ugly" would not exist. 3. hes saying he doesn't want to be told what he should be, but clearly wants to tell other people what they should believe. 4. the stand up comedy thing feels like hes just admitting hes super weird but doesn't get how insane he sounds if taken in earnest. 5. Hes not beautiful cause hes actively trying to make himself ugly and then getting mad when people call him ugly. 6. yes societal norms are often in place in order to make other members of society comfortable, however, since hes so self centered, its only his own comfort that he views as important. 7. part of the problem with this therapy/trauma culture is the idea that other random people are interested in hearing about some random person's issues all the time. suffering is part of the human condition. people calling you weird cause you wear dresses is not tragedy the world needs to assuage. i am not your therapist. no good poet's body of work is just "shower me with pity" 8. I will never see myself in him because to arrive at his state of being, one must simultaneously be so self indulgent and lacking in self awareness that to empathize would require a paradoxical lacking in empathy. 9. choosing love does not mean permitting insanity. 10. he doesnt seem to get he is innately aberrant. The amount of people who claim to be non-binary is fairly low. and im going to say the quiet part out loud: most people think its weird but don't care enough to start a confrontation about it. I dont "see" him in the same way i dont see an annoying mormon coming to my door in everyone. doing so would make me very misanthropic. 11. he also doesnt seem to get that these people who "hate", actually for the most part just dont care. they are not emotionally invested enough to care about some ugly crossdresser. 12. non-binary is a new concept and didnt exist in the past. no one is erasing "non-binary" from the past because it didnt exist. if its not self-evident you are "possible" maybe its a sign your ideology is nonsense. I dont need to know being male is "possible" for me to instinctively know it....because its readily apparent. even without the word, the traits are easily distinguished. 13. sex being binary is very obvious. to say its an invention is disregarding physical reality and history. does he think other cultures in ancient times, which we literally have historical records of, just didn't acknowledge the existence of men and women? many creation myths in religions involve the union of a male and female deity. hes literally ignoring non-european culture and pretending they agree with him. 14. This whole "people dont want me to exist" thing is moving goal posts. Its like someone wearing an offensive t-shirt and when people complain, they take it as an existential threat. just remove the t-shirt dude. 15. he very clearly wants attention but wants to frame it as society not being able to accept him. this whole clothing thing for instance; none of it looks good on him. ITs not like men cant wear colorful clothing, but a dress doesnt look good on a male figure typically and its just a result of people having eyes. 16. wait till he hears about how other cultures like say, india, "police sex". has he heard about islam and how many women are forced to wear very concealing clothing. white men didnt create that. 17. no one is dying because people don't believe in "non-binary" 18. metaphors dont always work. saying the sex binary doesnt exist because water is fluid is a non-sequitur. I can observe that the sun is really bright. It doesnt mean human also glow and emit high amounts of radiation. humans are not wind. that may work in a poem but not as an argument. 19. he seems to think "love" just means praising him and finding no fault in him. furthermore, he seems to think "violence" is not agreeing with him. 20. you need to prove something is worth learning before others will find the time for it. I am not obligated to believe any ideology just cause an adherent calls it love. literally every cult will make the same claim. 21. he has no right to claim literally anyone else is wearing an ugly outfit. a closet full of christmas sweaters has more style than him . 22. he has no right to call anyone out on "daddy issues" 23. the repeated bad poetry in his speech is annoying. Its like he retreats to that when he literally has nothing else to say. 24. anyone who think of bell hooks as someone worthy of respect should immediately be disregarded. 25. being gay isn't a "movement". my sexuality isnt a political orientation. 26. imagine even woman wearing half of the things he is. it would still look utterly ridiculous. 27. the violence and fascism they constantly bring up is like a hardcore Christian constantly bringing up the devil in regards to things they dont like.

Why do they just not promote Gender non conformity, or heaven forbid Male "femininity". All I really ask is for an end to sex determined dress codes. I used to naively think that someone being gay, bi or gender non-comforming was supposed to be something as important as someone's eye color. Just another characteristic. But no. You had Michalangelo and Fassbinder, for example, who did amazing things in their fields, but although we know they were gay men, that's a side point. The main point is that they were amazing at what they did (in my opinion, at least). But today, being gay or non-conforming is a surrogate for any kind of talent or craft. He is the bigoted one, if we wanna play that game, because the only thing what he is putting in the front should be the least interesting part of you.

Correct me if im wrong but a term used a lot is "nonbinary lesbian" to proove that nonbinary people existed, but as far as my understanding (from a lefist youtube video explaining in detail) goes the term was used to describe lesbians who dressed as men to court other women, they couldnt fathom that a woman could be gay and gender non conforming so they labeled these people as a third gender because they refused to accept them as a man nor a woman Based on that it seems it was never real to be nonbinary, it was an insulting catagorisation used to isolate lesbians for being non conforming, and it seems this pattern holds up, because today any bit of non conformity and peoppe jump to "i must not be a man/woman" History truley does repeat itself

there are certain articles of clothing once designed for Men that are now popular with woman and vice versa which is why I believe there is alot to clothes that is socially constructed, however things like corsets and what have you are indeed intended to be pleasing while worn on women

Isn’t he basically just a club kid? Is beauty about outfits and presentation? Is there something wrong with men wearing women’s clothing - he’s welcome to it. Why the fuss?

23:45 - about clothes. I think like you that certain clothes suit a man's body and certain clothes suit a woman's body. Whereas women seem to have advantages in this: a woman in trousers and a jacket is beautiful, but a man in a floral thin dress is rather not.

Right? And it’s logical, isn’t it? Clothing over centuries would have been refined to highlight certain parts of the gender for which they were designed. But I honestly don’t care what people wear.

But thats what social conditioning is. The fact that it was considered not ok back then for women to wear pants cuz people argued just like this guy did that they wouldnt fit them well. Idk i feel like people get this thing wrong. Just cuz you’re gay doesnt mean you cant me conservative you know😂

@@HeleneOl-os3uq it can be more than one thing. It can be logical that clothes are designed for a gender, and social conditioning that disallows people from straying from the gender norm. But we can also recognise that people can wear whichever gendered thing they want. But let’s not act like this was some grand mastermind plan - most of this would’ve arisen organically. As having a distinction between the sexes benefited both sexes.

@@smallsignals I see what you mean BUT i disagree:) Sorry, this is a bit long🫠 1. "Clothes designed for a gender" I mean while some clothing may have been designed with physical differences in mind (like breast support or size), most distinctions are cultural, not biological. For example, skirts for men were common in many ancient cultures, like Roman togas or Scottish kilts. 2. Social conditioning disallows straying from gender norms" This is exactly the issue-society, not biology, enforces these norms. People were (and still are) punished or ridiculed for dressing outside traditional gender expectations, showing it wasn’t an "organic" development but RATHER a controlled one. 3. "People can wear whatever they want" Yes, and we should support that freedom. However, current norms still pressure individuals to conform, which shows these distinctions aren’t neutral or beneficial-they’re restrictive. 4. "Not a grand mastermind plan" True, but many social structures, like sumptuary laws or dress codes, actively reinforced these norms over time, especially limiting women’s freedom (e.g., restrictive dresses and layered petticoats). 5. "Distinction benefits both sexes" No. It largely benefited men, as their clothing was often more practical and allowed greater mobility (e.g., pants vs. long, restrictive garments). For example, women's clothing in many eras, such as Victorian dresses with multiple layers, hoop skirts, or petticoats, limited movement and physical activity. These garments confined women to domestic spaces, while men’s simpler, more functional clothing enabled greater participation in work, politics, and etc maintaining unequal social power.

@@HeleneOl-os3uq I like long replies :) and I do wish to parry but I’m tired; it has been a long day I’m afraid. I should’ve been more specific in my use of language and when I will reply, I’ll try to be more precise. I do agree with a lot of what you’ve said, but I do disagree on some points.

When it comes to Tik Toxic..... would love to see you have a look at Jamie Raines aka Jammidodger, a trans man who has over a million subscribers on You Tube. Whilst initially documenting his transition, nowadays Jamie largely posts videos on who and what the Dodger considers transphobic, without really giving any logical arguments to support these claims. I find him insufferable and so condescending. He is married to a woman....but describes their relationship as gay/queer. But if trans men are men, wouldn't that mean they are straight??? Pls help it make sense Jack !!! ps Like Jammidodger, think Alok is a total grifter

I don't have a problem with how he chooses to dress or his poor makeup application skills, but his victimhood being worn on his sleeve & the ideaology he espouses is delusional. I feel pity for him actually because he either truly believes what he's saying, which is sad or he knows he's working an identity angle for political reasons & playing a role for a delusional ideology, which means he's a fraud doing it for money & fame.

I think you kind of lose the plot here. Alok is an artist first and foremost. All artists have a point of view and they work from the inspiration that comes from that well until it runs dry or they find a better way to express. The reason they work from the past is to help those who are struggling now with the terror they felt then. Meaning it shouldn’t really matter what we all look like. Because of that it’s like you are sat there listening to music which doesn’t really appeal to you and explaining that there is a problem with the music. There is nothing wrong with Alok, you just don’t like the art or the point of view or the heightened delivery. Alok lives with a really strong sense of intention. Which seems performative because that was a choice made which all real artists have to do. Each one has to say that they will be devoted to their art the way others are fanatical about God. They have to be sincere, put the time in, live their idea no matter how silly. Grayson Perry lives a really eccentric existence like Alok but doesn’t carry as much pain or shame. He is his own art project/message. And from the responses to the posts it seems like they are giving people the realization that there is more possible here than we previously thought. Why are we going off about someone who wants to spread a message that is essentially good? Is he hurting anyone or just offending your taste?
