Official music video for "Adult Diversion" from the self-titled debut Alvvays album, released July 22, 2014. Stream/Buy: alvvays.ffm.to... Directed by Colin Medley www.alvvays.com
Molly Rankin said on a recent (2022) interview that Alvvays music is designed to be timeless and evoke memories of a time before we were glued to screens. They have clearly achieved this in a brilliant way.

People criticize this era's music generation, but bands like this (and there are plenty of them that are this solid) make me feel like this is the time music is at its best. There is some sort of combination of the past 5 decades mingled into groups like Alvvays, Tobias Jesso Jr., DIIV, even Perfect Pussy for that matter. Unlike the film industry which is running out of ideas, music is thriving harder than ever. The common folk just hasn't found it yet.

This was one of the first indie bands I discovered. I was 12 years old and at that really awkward phase of pre-teenagehood, but bands like this one and TOPS made it a lot more bearable and helped me shape my personality. Now i'm 17 and about to graduate, and I can say that i'm happy with who I turned out to be. Time really does fly.

Dear future me, Whether this is to future me in a month, a year, or even 10 years I hope you remember. Remember who you are. Don’t let the flame die out even though at the time of this message it’s just a few embers. Do not let addiction, self doubt, and depression stomp out the flame. Remember that when everything seems dark that maybe, just maybe we are the light. Future self don’t like the light die out because that’s all we have an if we lose the light we will have let ourselves die somewhere deep down inside of ourself. And if you don’t want to fight for yourself, remember when we were a kid. That little kid version of ourself is always there watching as we continue to struggle and let the flame die. He will always be there to provide the embers needed to fuel a roaring flame. Remember who you are future self. With hope, Me from 2024

Brings back many memories of younger days. To me, it specifically reminds me of the year i was transitioning from a teenager to a young adult (2014). Hanging around with lots of "friends" and a hella lot of strangers. Getting drunk and high af... All those parties, all those nights, all those hangovers... I had a pretty good time tbh. Nowadays, I don't drink anymore, and I rarely go outside or hang around. But when I do it's usually with 2 or 3 people, inside somebody's house.

I love this band's videos. I've always loved it when music videos just showed bands playing in exceptionally cool ways, like at some big, raucous party ("DJ DJ", "Duality") or otherwise cool places ("Amsterdam"), or even just photographed in a flattering way like the shots on stage here (I love the candid image of the singer turning to the band at the end; really shows, in a brief moment, the key ingredient of playing music together: listening. You can't produce that in a bedroom!) or standing in a circle like in "In Undertow." Images of the band not just playing the song but complimenting it!

This song takes me back to one of my boyfriend and I’s first dates, probably because I listened to it a couple of times that day and it fit my mood perfectly. It was a very sunny day despite it being November and we were on a beach, but before then, we had been wandering around the downtown area surrounding it and eventually explored nearby paths filled with greenery. Getting to know him was amazing, and getting to kiss him a couple of times when that all felt so new was magical. I already feel this warm and fuzzy nostalgic feeling thinking about it even though it just happened last year.

Either Princess Chelsea or Stereolab brought me here - one of the two because I was listening to a lot of them lately. But I couldn’t be more glad to be here. What a great song!

I'm just realizing, this music videos is shot in Sackville Newbrunswick, during Sappy Fest, perfect song for a university town, can't believe I've walked that very street this video was taken many times, well listening to this song, this song feels even more close to home!

They got the original film and upscaled it to 4k but they removed the bit with the "in cod we trust" poster and they removed one of the stereo channels =/

I used to love this song when I felt like I still "had my youth". Now that I've lost touch with that, I kind of love/hate this song because it always makes me cry. It's weird/hard being a human being.
