I'm an Amazon delivery driver. The app sucks... but the simplest solution is to hit the question mark in the top right corner and select the option that says "GPS isn't working, I'm at the location" I wish they wouldn't update the app every week and break it, but if you still want to be a delivery driver I have many more tips and tricks to help you out!

What’s a trick on not being able to get into a building and unable to deliver a package when I do 330am blocks it tries to make me call and text the customer non stop shit is annoying it takes me like 10 min to get support to do it for me

Are you flex or DSP? I drive for a DSP and they give us android phones that can bypass like how you described. However, if I use my iPhone when the android dies, this option isn't available so I was thinking maybe that was his issue as well.

@sabiancanez7627 I work for a DSP with android phones. You may be right about Apple, I don't have one and have never used one. I can't speak on that. But that would quite annoying if the feature is only available on iPhone, since it's a very useful feature right now with the app just not even acknowledging you being directly in the pin. If I couldn't use that feature I would never manage to do my 200+ stop routes in 5-6 hours.

@Simbathegolden815 Unfortunately, I don't think there is much of a trick for that. I wouldn't waste much time with support. When I call them or message them, I am straightforward and I don't let them walk all over me. I tell them the situation and I tell them the correct steps that they will tell you to do have already been done, then I would just tell them that the customer needs to provide a way to get into the building or that the address cannot be delivered at 330 am because the building isn't open. I don't waste my time on stupid people, so if I can't deliver something, I just skip it and move on to the next stop in my itinerary.

I used to drive for an Amazon DSP and eventually was a dispatcher. Next time just drive to the location, deliver the package and take pictures on your phone the manually select the next location and deliver that package. Rinse and repeat until you are done then have support mark all as delivered. They will be able to see you drove to each location and mark them for you and it’s always nice to have the pictures as proof if needed.

People keep talking about delivery drivers tossing packages as if that's why shit gets broken. Let me tell you about something called Downstacking. In Amazon warehouses, if you have more pallets/carts than can fit in available trailers for a destination, you have to take packages out of those left over pallets/carts and literally throw them into the truck. This is what my managers and other managers trained. This is definitely where most packages break.

@@petreckstere2704 Dude I've been at it with Flex for 3 years and I'm practically almost done with it. The only thing that's kept me doing it is the good high paying surges I've been able to snag. Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros from personal experience. The cons are: High miles per block (I'm average 100 miles per block), unpredictable package count/delivery area/distance driven and the early morning blocks can be really dangerous if you come across crazy homeowners, loose dogs or someone that doesn't clean their property well thus risking your car or your well-being. I've slipped and fallen several times over the tmes, my car has slid and crashed into snow banks and luckily my car was ok and whatever I slid into was ok with no real damage. I've been confronted by dogs. I've had awkward interactions with homeowners. For me it's not worth it for other than extra cash here and there. Even then it's risky because you're using your personal car. I'd rather recommend people applying directly with an Amazon DSP or doing something else.

Damn, that sucks that the app wasn't working properly. But here is a work around. When you are close to the delivery and complete the steps "I've parked", "scan package", then when you are about to deliver it, turn off cellular data, go back to the flex app, click on the "?" on the top right corner and select "GPS is not working, I am at the address" it will allow you to drop off the package anywhere you'd like, you do not even have to be in the orange circle. I always do this method whenever a business, gated community or someone doesn't give an access code and I need to drop it behind a gate or door. Quick drop and go and on to the next one. I've done this for years and the customer will find their package regardless. If you need any additional tips let me know and I can send you anything that I know or any workaround.

I used to work at an Amazon sort center warehouse where all shifts were "4 hours" but when I showed up for Day 1 training they told us that the shifts were call "flex shifts" where at any moment notice they will either flex up the shift or flex down the shift by 15 minute increments up to an hour depending on what's on their little computers. One time they didn't tell me or my coworkers (we worked separately from everyone else so no PA near us) that they flexed up so my coworkers left but i stayed since I didn't see the hoarde of people that usually walk to the clocks like there normally is and my coworkers got dinged for leaving early. Another time they told us the shift was flexed down by 15 minutes so I clocked out 15 minutes early and got dinged for "leaving early". Oh and if they flex down the shift (reason i transferred to a different warehouse) to 3 hours they don't conpensate you in any way for that lost hour. Last peak season before my transfer i was hoping to work some overtime shifts but every single shift was flexed down because there was no work so i saw a lot of people leaving to different buildings before i left. Sucked because i liked working there before they changed working methods that turned the building into a shitshow and said "these changes are for the better"

Amazon sucks, I don't even order from amazon because I know how it feels to be on the other side of things. one secret I did learn while working was that, if your app wasn't working you could set your phone on airplane mode and the app would work correctly but having do that over 50 stops per day really slows you down, on top of that also having to call support for in garage deliveries was awful. I still don't understand how a company so large can be so unorganized and create shitty apps.

It give you different options and youll find an option that says im at the delivery but the pin isn't working. Hit like if it helps. My biggest issue with the app is when I do 330AM blocks and I can’t get into buildings and it tried to make me call and call text and text the customer before it goes away I have to call support every time to unable to deliver it for me.

I am an Amazon delivery driver for a living. Like I drive the Amazon branded vehicles. This is just how it is lol. They don't care, they won't do anything to fix it. You're just expected to figure it out on your own. 🤷🏼♀️ This job is not for the faint of heart. If you can't handle stress, do not work this job.

To make it even worse, if you hadn't completely given up on your 10am finish time, you would've finished by 11 and had zero late packages

Does your Tesla have optimized charging? You should keep the charge level between 20% and 80% for the health of the battery. Optimized charging doesn’t charge it past 80% until the time in the morning you usually use your car!

The app is trash. The workaround is to put the device in airplane mode, and then go the "?" and select "GPS isn't working, I'm at the location". Then it will let you scan. I've had to do this so many times in the last month around new housing developments and areas with no service.

Maybe you can answer a question I have that nobody else seems to be able to answer. Why would Amazon ship a package to a facility 40 miles from my house. Then, on the same day, ship that package to another Amazon facility a 100 Mi away on a weekday?

So should I not try Flex ever? Ive had the app for about a year now but havent tried any shifts due to where I live (STL Missouri) because Id probably either get Downtown, rural country land or "The Hood" lmao also I'm terrified of beating my car up more, it gets enough beating doing doordash and uber :(

As someone who lives in STL and does Flex, it’s a bit hit or miss. Most of your shifts are gonna come from Sauget across the river and they can be delivery areas from Lake Saint Louis all the way to past Belleville so it’s a pretty wide swoth. Most of the base pay is between $20-25/hr, however your higher paying ones are extremely hard to snatch because people use auto-clicker bots to take them before you have a chance to. What I do is take the super early shifts (starting at 3:30-6am) which if you have a high enough level you’ll be given a Reserved block that you have 15 minutes to take. These can range from $30-40/hr and are much more worth your time. It’s just gonna depend on your availability. In terms of sketchiness, I’ve done deliveries in places like Ferguson, Bellefontaine, and the like and haven’t had any issues. Granted most of my shifts are while people are still sleeping but thats a way to get around it

@@emoo.182 No prob. I’d recommend taking something like a 4hr $82 shift from Sauget if you want to get your toes wet. You can find those pretty commonly. It’s a good balance between take-home pay after gas and time for base pay. One tip I have for Sauget tho is their organization of packages is nonexistent, so bring a pen with you and scan each package after you complete pickup in the app at the station and physically write on the package label what number stop it is so you don’t have to fumble through every package every stop to try to find what you need.

Sounds rough. Use your best judgement here. Deliver all of the packages document well and and photograph the place where you put it and the fronts of each package. TRY to mark them as delivered but only try once. Then contact support when all are delivered and tell them for every package you were having to contact support to have them mark it as delivered, it was in the best interest of the customer to deliver. Upload all your pics. Leave it to them to sort out.

This is what happens when you do your job well, you get given more work for the same pay, or in your case more work for less pay.
