I’m glad you’re keeping track of mileage and expenses. Many gig workers end up owing the IRS a ton of money because they don’t keep accurate records. Many times the standard mileage rate is better, but not always. I have many tax clients who are shocked at the end of the year when they don’t get a refund. Hopefully you paid in estimated taxes so you don’t get hit with an underpayment of taxes penalty. But it looks like you’re doing a good job and are aware of what you’ve got going on.

I work at UPS and we live for picking up extra shifts because we get time and a half, but in recent months nothing has been available. Either customers are not buying items, or the company is getting smarter at getting packages delivered. We handle about 13% of Amazons packages and they are down from say 3 trailers a shift to one. I just think it's people not having money to spend. Anyway..great video. I'm sure it'll help those doing this type of work.

Amazon is using UPS less and less as they bring more delivery work in-house. I would not be surprised if they stop using UPS completely. Amazon has also cut back on its use of the Postal Service, though that won't disappear because only the Postal Service can reasonably handle some remote locations.

Based on your POV and my experience I'd say that Amazon is just another app from the gig economy, you can't live from that only, you need to do multi apping if you want to make decent amounts of cash.

I seem to get 3 different types of routes... either the super rural stuff where I have to use USFS roads and throw the truck into 4LO to reach each customer, the super dense locker-heavy routes with like 400 packages where the totes in my bed and the entire cab except my lines of sight are just filled to the brim, or the industrial runs... of the three, I absolutely abhor the industrial runs. Flex is my fallback when I'm out of work as a trucker... I'm used to bumping docks. Didn't think those customers could get any worse, but alas... "knock on door 5, do not leave package unattended" doesn't fucking work when the customer refuses to open door 5, refuses to answer the phone, refuses to take delivery of the package, etc. etc. and then bitches to Amazon because their package got returned to the station due to nondeliverability

22.50 is rather bad as a 10-99 job. No benefits, no healthcare, no 401k. consider those in your pay where a company normally covers it is going to be a challenge. The video did a good job looking at the cost of wear and tear on the vehicle. However failed to cover long term costs with a tesla, like battery degradation, chassis ware; insurance increase (due to commercial use). Amazon flex might be worth it if you made 40-50$ on hour to cover insurance, expenses, other costs that are long term. Relating, a much better 10-99 job is selling insurance. Cold calling, digital marketing, a good sales attitude can bring upwards of several figures annually. Most insurance companies have residual pay for reoccurring annual clients. Meaning you could your last years check on top of your current up to 5 years. Think one sale averages 500$, two a day is easy work. Downsides to insurance you work the days your clients want. #Mon-sun

I assume you mean when I got held up at the warehouse - that block of packages just wasn't put into the system by mistake, so it kept causing a loading error. but yeah, I used to have to scan each package individually, now you can just scan the big yellow bag QR code, and then any overflow
