honest to god the only reason that i ever chose to put a radeon card in my parts selection was just because the scalper market on the 6900 XT is slightly (just slightly) more accessible than the RTX 3090. at the end of the day i know damn well that each gpu is going to have its own specialty games where it dominates and that there's no such thing as omnipotence in the world of chipsets. Mostly I'm just happy to be experiencing 100-300 fps on my GPU when my old console was locked to just 60, and I love knowing that game developers won't be maxing out the capacity of this card for at least 10 years.

@@ShadowLancer128 I grew up when Radeon wasn't owned by AMD and my family's computer would often have major issues with the old Radeon graphics cards. @@strausszen1215 I guess so and what do you mean you hope the 7900xt kicks ass? the current cards are monsters and even the previous 5700xt was 2/3 performance of a 2080 ti and 1/3 of the price. Back in the day AMD was very competitive and beating most of Nvidia cards (this is where the shadiness comes into play) it's what Nvidia did with game developers that made them look better and not the GPU's themselves actually being better. Is AMD perfect? absolutely not, they have their own fair share of bullshit including driver issues, but majority of those issues are Windows related. Don't even want to get started on the whole FX disaster lol. The madness doesn't stop there either.. Intel was doing literally the same exact shit with their CPU's but it's no surprise there. Also, for those looking at the max pcie power calculations, keep in mind tha the pcie 8 pin is 150w max but ONLY if you're running the bare minimum allowable cable gauge as per pcie spec, if your psu runs thicker cables, for example if your unit is around 18 awg for cabling then you should be fine to about 250-300w, if you've got something silly like an older evga supernova 1600 G2 as I run then you'll have 16 awg cabling if you've not changed it for something else (say custom cable kits but not at the same gauge as stock for example), then at that point you can push 300-350w per 8 pin no problem, so that 525w only really applies if you're running bare minimum cable gauge, additionally if we take the example of 18 awg and the former max of 250w per then we're looking at 825w max and 975w on the latter, and with the rarer example of 16awg cabling and the former 300w per (as prior) makes 975w max and the latter makes 1125w max, realistically the card isn't going to draw anywhere near that amount, but it's something to keep in mind that 150w spec doesn't really mean as much as you'd think if you have a good psu

Afaik 3000 MHz is the software lock (cap) for "normal" 6900 XT's, the Liquid Devil Ultimate can go up to 4000 MHz (which is considered unlimited bios)
@SuprUsrStan
3 жыл бұрын
For all intents and purposes, 3000Mhz is plenty for a 6900XT including the ultimate version. It's nearly impossible to hit 3000Mhz without an unlocked voltage and power limit. Even then, it's realistically impossible without sub ambient cooling. de8auer did mange to hit 3.2Ghz on a 6900XTU but that's with liquid nitrogen. I want to say both voltage and power limit are software bios locked but currently the bios of the 6800XT/6900XT are not easily editable like previous AMD cards. It's also doesn't look like Powercolor is willing to deviate from AMD's guidance on max power and voltage limits.

Thanks for the video Stan, are these overclock settings safe to play games for hours on end? I have the same card and I'm worried having it overclocked for hours at 1175mV and >2000mHz min may damage the card. I like to play games for long periods of times. Also do you know why i have my Voltage set at 1175mV but it always hovers around 806mV when playing a demanding game and only shoots to 117mV for a few seconds?

Yeah, that’s about right for the price. You’ll probably have to wait a while before prices come back down. This isn’t a situation of them not producing enough. It’s literally a price floor established by ethereum mining that makes every cars on the market $1000 to $2500. Unless Bitcoin crashes or mining changes drastically. That price floor will exist and every available card below that price will be bough, regardless of how many is produced 🤷🏻♂️

But hellz no am I paying for a card that will cost twice as much as my desktop (all water cooling parts included). Unless you have a card thats 5 years old in your rig, games run perfectly fine on last gen GPU's, you don't need the ultimate edition just for gaming, thats overkill.
