RIP my friend Ed Schultz. Ed was always a champion, even in high school in Virginia, where during the years of integration he was one of a few white students who voluntarily enroll in an all-Black high school. The black athletes elected him captain and quarterback. The team excelled Ed was an outstanding passer and team leader. In college in Minnesota Ed was a record-breaking passer. After college, Ed entered sports broadcasting and conservative talk radio in Fargo ND. He met and fell in love with his now wife, Wendy, who volunteered at homeless shelters, she took Ed to show him the plight of people down and out. This experience changed his conservative outlook to an actively progressive advocate. It was then I first learned of Ed and followed him faithfully for years on both regional and national talk shows. Later he became a prominent TV commentator on MSNBC, where he passionately took on the establishment media. He reflected Midwest values and championed unions, civil rights, healthcare, working classes, teachers, exploited service workers. He called out discrimination against minorities and women. He pointed out the serious flaws and betrayals of Corporate Democrats both in Congress and the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations. Ed, like myself, was an ardent early supporter of Obama when he promised hope and change. Ed, more than any other reporter, helped Obama get reelected [when Obama’s popularity was fading] by single-handedly exposing video of Romney bad-mouthing the bottom half of all Americans. Ed Schultz was a journalist who took on wrongdoers of all persuasions. His passion was fire-in-the-belly reporting. He was my friend and a paladin. I grieve his death and our nation's loss. -george

George Davelis That was both eloquent and substantial. Thank you. I must confess that I haven't been a follower of Ed but that's only because I didn't familiarize myself with his human and political views. After listening to this video, I had decided to follow his work but then discovered he had passed away. An ethical, steely voice that brazenly resisted the tide of corruption and selfishness at a time we needed it most, and now it's gone. The world has only become that much darker with his passing. Hopefully, others will carry his torch into the future. Take care my friend.

The eulogy is appreciated, but not a good place for pot shots. Conservatives don't care for the plight of the down and out? If Mr. Schultz cared after that day, that was the day he became a conservative. You should understand the theft of conservatism as embodied in those like William Buckley, Jr, a liberal. Conservatism isn't a political party. It's a philosophy regarding conservation, typically the conservation of a foundation. In America, that's faith, morality, education, and so on. So I say again, it sounds like Mr. Schultz previously held an immoral view of the down and out. Thanks in part to his wife, it seems, he realized his conservative views were at least partly vain, albeit unwittingly.

Yeah he couldn't howl and scream and be as self righteous as Rachael Maddow or be as snide as the other MSNBC or CNN clowns. Its staggering that this was *9 YEARS* ago (2013) as it could have been last week. The only difference is they're obstructing Biden instead of Obama. This is the second talk I have seen in a couple of days that sounded like it was said last week and it was several years ago. Is nobody listening or nobody learning?
@rickb3650

@@tonywilson4713 The people who have paid attention and put in the effort to learn how things work have told us where we were going for over half a century. Every issue Ed was talking about then and every disaster looming on the horizon today has been warned against, time and again, and most of us have not listened or learned. I grew up in the '80s and even then I noticed that people seemed less curious and weren't interested in knowing things. Now that I'm in my '50s and coming up on two decades of retirement, I'm simply shocked at how little most seem to know about anything, and appalled that they actively resist new information.
@tonywilson4713
2 жыл бұрын
@@rickb3650 I'm also in my 50s. I'm Australian but went to college in America. While In college I started reading Isaac Asimov's Foundation books which is fundamentally about statistically analysing society. One of the key things Asimov predicts would be the failure of a technological society was the ability to maintain it. Even back in the 80s it was obvious were were starting to fail to maintain our level of technological skills. I don't simply mean engineers I mean the people who engineers work with as well - electricians, machinists, mechanics, welders, aircraft mechanics, etc. were all seen as irrelevant. With globalization they were seen as even less relevant by the clowns with economics degrees, law degrees, business degrees and sorts of other degrees. Here in Australia we literally pulled apart our entire apprenticeship scheme to train these people. There's a whole bunch of trades that NO LONGER exist here in Australia. We don't even train some of the basic trades needed by our military. We've lost an entire generation of skilled people which means we've also lost an entire generation of teachers. That's before we get onto the state of basic education which is now either falling tragically or going through the roof. The disparity in opportunity is staggering. We've had a string of idiots with either clown brained leftist ideologies or radically right libertarian ideologies dominating various parts of the education system. Between them they have BOTH cut the funding to engineering and science. If its not some lefty M0R0N interfering with fantasies its some right wing creed driven idiot expecting space technology at caveman prices. Between these 2 groups of idiots who do nothing but yell at each other I've really had enough.

The Doctrine of Discovery provided a framework for Christian explorers, in the name of their sovereign, to lay claim to territories uninhabited by Christians. If the lands were vacant, then they could be defined as “discovered” and sovereignty claimed. 2. Within the framework of the Doctrine, Indigenous Peoples in the Americas were considered non-human The presiding theory of the time was that Indigenous Peoples, because they were non-Christians, were not human and therefore the land was empty or terra nullius. When Christopher Columbus arrived in 1492, it is estimated that the Americas were actually occupied by 100 million Indigenous Peoples - which is about one fifth of the human race at that time - who had been living their traditional lives on the land since time immemorial. But, because they were not Christians the land was deemed terra nullius.
