My father also bought me a model 60 from K-Mart in the early 80's. It's my favorite firearm in my collection and it will be my daughter's one day. It still shoots as good as it ever has.

If you don't like .22's you don't like shooting IMO. I to had a model 60 and I remember the first time I took it out was with a friend who's father bought him a new .222 Remington I forgot the model but it was a very nice rifle. We went rabbit hunting just north of Castaic and Pyramid lakes, we had a great time. Your video reminded me of that day, I'll never forget it. By the way that was quite a few years ago. Thanks DD!!

My first 22 was a model 60 in 1980. Paid with mowing grass and bailing hay,I was 13 yrs old. Jump to 2018 and had to have 552 speed master deluxe. Why I paid 700.00 😎 for a 22 rim fire ... because they look so kool!

My first .22-caliber semi auto rifle at age 18 was the Marlin Model 795 that I got for $160 @ Wholesale Sports Outdoor Outfitters (a chain in Canada that went out of business in 2017) on July 11, 2014 after I got my Non-Restricted Possession & Acquisition License (PAL). I loved that thing. It was the first gun I ever bought & I’ve had a cherished relationship with that .22. Yes i agree the bluing was lacking so i kept it oiled down being on the mood Pacific Northwest. But man did it shoot good and accurate and almost never jammed. Sadly, I had to sell it this month because I wanted to upgrade my gun safe, but I’ll never forget the cherished memory of the purchase of that gun being the moment I finally became a lawful firearms owner.

I have owned a marlin 60 for most of my adult life. I now also have a high standard rifle too. Both are fine shooters but I do prefer the marlin with its micro grove barrel. 12 lands and grooves = less bullet distorsion!

I think I have had all of those. The Model 60 and the Stevens 87 (mine was my Grandad's, and it was JC Higgins branded) I had the most experience with. I had a 10/22 for a while, but never really was impressed by it. Then I had a 597 heavy barrel for exactly 1 day. It was the most unreliable firearm I have ever encountered, so I promptly traded for a Marlin 917. Now the only .22s I have are an M&P15-22 and a CZ 457.

About 40 years ago i had a ruger 10/22 and a friend had one as well. My other friend had a remington 581s which i would trade him my ruger for the day. One day all three of us were in the woods and im shooting my friends 581s. My friend John had his 10/22, and when he was shooting it, the rifle blew up. The mag blew out of the magazine well. He got minor burning on one of his arms. It fried his skin and he had to were sauve on it. And then some flecks of burning on the face. He was alright. The magzine had 3 or 4 rounds that went off in it and a couple of the bullets were fine. He is a left hand shooter. I tell people this and they always say no way. I thought i would bring this up because you mentioned ruger 10/22 and it reminded me of this. By the way, I own a remington 581s bolt rifle and not a ruger 10/22. A few months ago i shot a 1 inch group at 100 yards using aguilla super extra ammo. Really informative videos. Thumbs up

I don't know about the rest of y'all but, I know I'll sleep better tonight knowing that all of the newer Marlin Model 60's only hold 15 bullets, after all everyone knows it's only the last 3 that are dangerous anyway. Those dang tube fed assault rifles. LMAO!!!! You're right about the semi auto 22 wmr Desert Dog, I've shot the 597 and the 10/22m and both had problems. I think one of the biggest one's is just how thin the brass on a 22 mag case is, it seemed like most of the jams I've had were bent cases. Which isn't really the rifles fault I guess. I've heard the CZ and Savage autos were pretty good but I haven't shot one yet.
