I love that you’re not afraid to have your dolls out in public. And doing things solo! You’re an inspiration ❤

Wow! What a wonderful history lesson, that is such a great museum. Thank you so very much for sharing it with us. I love that you took Addy and shared her items that matched the real items. Good for you for saying something to the rude lady.

I’m so glad you watch this video and enjoyed it. I like making different videos and not just dollhouse videos or addressing my dolls videos and this was one that I felt others would enjoy. The best part of this one is taking Addy to NYC and most people don’t even care lol

I love history museums. I have also been collecting American Girl since my three daughters (now 37, 41, and 42) were little - beginning with Pleasant Company. I couldn’t afford the accessories at that time so I poured over the catalog and made replicas of the items. I have early Samantha, Kirsten and Felicity dolls in mint condition. I also created an Outlander doll and purchased Tenney and her stage when she was released. I want to build a huge house but just don’t have the space for it so I created foldable sets and furnishings for 20+ different rooms. I just photograph them, and then disassemble them. It is such a fun hobby! Great tour!

Thank you so much! That’s so cool that you made replica accessories! I also think it is so smart that you created the foldable rooms and can set up so many different scenes. Nice! ☺️🩷

What a wonderful tour of the museum exhibit. I am glad you were able to take photos and to take Addy through the exhibit with you. She was the perfect guest to connect with her 1864 history and the real items in her collection! I am glad the museum was able to understand Addy’s place in history and see her more than just an unnecessary toy. I don’t know what was up with the woman who was rude to you other than not understanding why an adult would have a doll in public and not knowing how to react when she saw you. I live in New Mexico and have Josefina and her whole collection. El Rancho de Las Golondrinas is the living history museum near Santa Fe that was used to research her story. My Josefina has been there once. I have had other dolls there regularly, including taking my CYO to the Santa Fe Renaissance Faire. If anyone is interested, I have a few slideshow videos on my KZitem channel.

I’m going to check out the videos/slideshows - thank you for sharing. That woman clearly wasn’t thinking. I attempted to enlighten her, but she didn’t get it so I didn’t waste energy on her. I’m glad you enjoyed my video. I love taking my dolls on adventures ☺️

Really neat tour. Sorry to hear about the rude lady. It sounds like you handled the situation well. I took a historical building tour with my daughter and her friend a few years ago. My daughter brought Felicity and I brought Elizabeth. No one else signed up for the tour, so that made me feel more comfortable. I explained to our tour guide that we like to take pictures of our dolls for Instagram. It makes me more comfortable explaining it in the beginning. 😊 If someone spoke to me, the way that rude lady spoke to you, I'd probably do what you did, but I might be inclined to lay it on thicker. 😂 ❤

I’m glad you enjoyed the tour. Kudos to you for taking Elizabeth on the historical building tour. No one ever has a second thought when a child brings a doll out in public and no explanation is needed. It sends a positive message to children when they see adults enjoying “toys.” 🥰

I am ashamed to say I have passed that museum several times and never thought to stop thank you for reintroducing it to me I will check it out. I may even take the twins. Tenement fires were common an often fatal. lol you rock talking to her like that educate the masses. I like the washboard I had one of those as a child. We called it a juking board. The name is related to the motion of washing/rubbing the clothes on the boar I have never taken a real trip with my dolls. The guy on the railroad is texting his friends about you. Great video.

I laughed reading your comment about the guy on the railroad lol Definitely go, take the twins! It will be fun. For Mother’s Day this year I went to the Tenament Museum with my daughters, and it was so much fun. By the way, it’s so easy to miss all the awesomeness this museum offers since it blends in with the neighborhood. You are right about the fires being fatal - so many sad stories.

That looks like a very educational and interesting tour. And I definitely learned some things watching this. No, I can not imagine sewing by candlelight! I love that you take your dolls out, stick up for yourself, and just laugh about peoples’ reactions! Addy on the subway sitting next to some random guy! lol!😂

How cute to take Addy on this historical tour! I am so glad that the museum allowed you to take her through. I’m sorry you had that unfortunate interaction with that Woman. How unkind of her. I am happy you continued to enjoy your tour with Addy. I can’t wait to see Addy’s room in your doll house. 😃

If someone had been that rude to me I would have informed her that Addy was an American Girl doll born in 1855 and would have been 14 years old in 1869. I'm not familiar with Addy's story but I would have educated the woman about why you had her with you during this tour. I didn't get into history (I was more of a math and science person) when in grade school long before AG dolls were made but I would have told her that American Girl dolls gave a lot of young girls an interest in History with their dolls, stories, and time periods. Educating ignorant and rude people is more effective and she might have actually apologized for her behavior. Never had Borsch so don't know if I'd like it or not. I do like beets but if it has tomatoes in it I might not like it. I've had Gazpacho (in Spain) and love that (I know it's not the same but that is tomato based.).

Hi! Trust me, I did give her an education and she was rude throughout the discussion and at a certain point I realized that "educating" her wasn't worth my energy so I just disengaged. You are spot on and completely right! After I "educated" the person at the front desk who wanted me to put Addy in the locker that person had a change of heart and totally understood why I brought Addy to the exhibit. Typically there are no tomatoes in borscht and you can eat it cold or hot, but my preference is hot. I appreciate your comments :)
