If you are going to Vancouver Island, the coho and chinook salmon runs are happening now! Stamp Falls Provincial Park (with a fish ladder for the salmon) is free and only a few minutes out of your way if you are passing through Port Alberni heading to Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park. Cape Scott and San Josef Bay at the north end of Vancouver Island would be a shame to miss!

On Vancouver Island you can snorkel swim with the salmon in Campbell River. If you want 100% guaranteed Orca sightings go to Telegraph Cove on Vancouver Island or in Victoria.

Anne Ballantyne, calamari is squid! You've never had calamari? It's all over the place, especially in Greek restaurants, but many other western restaurants too have it as a standard appetizer.

As a kid I'd get about 1/2 way across that suspension bridge and then panic and freeze. The other kids would run across and it bounces and sways and feels sketchy as hell. Love seeing it again though.
