do you have any recommendations for a decent 29"-30" (wide/ultrawide) monitors with more or less the same features? I have tested a 32" UQHD but it bugged me the hell out that the density of the pixels was not great comparing it to a Dell2715Q 27" 4k I have. I liked though the space of the 32". So my thinking is, if I had a 29-30" 4k that would probably be the ideal monitor. Color accuracy is not a must have for me, since the main use resolves around office work, and maybe some gaming but very very little photo/video editing.

Just got the 27UP850 a couple weeks back and I'm in love. It perfectly complements my 14" MBP and prior to this monitor, I had an eleven year old 21.5" Samsung. Use it primarily for law school and it has a wonderful reader view for the same, which works well with warmer true tone settings on my ipad pro. The size of the monitor means that I don't have to use my ipad as an external display and instead as a complementary device where I do my annotations. Connected to my audioengines and polk audio subwoofer, movie nights are a damn blast. The USB-C connectivity is truly convenient and I don't have to mount and pack my charger every morning for work. I'm glad I went the 4k 60fps route instead of the 1440p 144hz Benq I was considering. Though the 120hz ProMotion refresh rate of the 14 MBP is not reflected in this monitor, the 4k resolution is said to be better for documents, productivity, and modern media viewing. I was not able to compare the two resolutions but this was a quick decision I had to make in the lack of resoruces in the Philippines.

I have a Dell S2721Q 4K. I picked it up from my local IT shop. When I got home I found Dell had it on sale for $AUD100 cheaper but I was happy to support my local IT bloke. It has built-in speakers which are crappy so I bought some cheap Logitech speakers powered by USB but plugged into the monitor's headphone jack. The Q describes the stand that comes with the monitor. It allows a bit of tilt only. The monitor has the mounting holes (similar to shown in the video) for the fancy stand that allows lift and rotate. I got one of these from a friend who uses a monitor arm instead. I can't get the fancy stand to fit in. Something is blocking the fit at the bottom on the holes. I've considered taking the back cover off the monitor to see if I can make some adjustments but not until it is out of warranty.

I have the exact same model. I would strongly recommend it if you plan to use it with a MAC. But I have to say, I wouldn't recommend this for a windows user, or in fact any other 27inch 4k monitor since windows its still not working well with high dpi screens. (even virtual windows through parallels works better than native windows on a PC). If you have to go 4k windows - go for 32inches. In 2022 some windows apps (not just old ones) refuse to work properly under some dpi scaling settings. I don't remember if I was using 125 or 150% magnification, but only one of those 2 works well. I would say 27 -quad HD, 32 4K for windows from my testing.. No problem on a MAC.

I bought the 27UP850 two months ago, return it and bought another one. Same issues with both: 1. IPS-glow is quite bad at lower corners (but MAYBE I can deal with it...) 2. I can't manage to output a 10-bit signal from my Mac mini M1: I tried connecting with USB-C, HDMI and USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable but with every connection Switchresx says that I'm displaying "millions of colors" (8 bit) and not billions (10bit). I know that they are not real 10bit colors, but even with FRC the difference should be visible. Do you manage to display billions of colors? 3. OnScreen Control is a nice feature: such a bad thing that it's still not fully compatible with Apple Silicon!! 4. It supports hardware calibration with many colorimeters, but the calibration with LG software is not reliable giving uneven gamma curve and not smooth gradients on my Mac M1. If you try with an Intel Mac it works better: WTF?? I'll probably buy an Asus PA279CV.

I have the UP850W and its an amazing monitor. Having multiple HDMI inputs plus usb-c makes it perfect for my macbook setup. Its now the standard monitor I purchase for my employees. Only areas of improvement I would like is to have the input selection available at the front rather than hidden under the screen. Also a locking mechanism for the height adjustment would be good to as I have a video bar mounted on mine which slowly pushes it down. Finally, the speakers sound pretty ordinary. Either LG should improve them or take them out and give us a cheaper USB-C monitor. My 14” MBP speakers sound way better.

I am using a Samsung LS27A800U monitor - 4K, 27", 250 nit max And the brightness is the biggest downside of it. Barely usable, most of a sunny day. I am considering buying another monitor right now - either BENQ GW2790QT (350 nits) or MSI MAG 274QRFW (400 nit), both 1440p The issue with deciding between those two is that the first one directed for photo editing and coding, but somehow has only SRBB coverage, while the second one has P3 coverage, better brightness and much higher frame rate, but does not have some smart features and proper colour profiles built in. And yes, I am one of those wanting the white monitor, not a black one. Hard to decide between the last two because what I really want is a combination of best features from both, or at least a BENQ with proper colour gamut, but alas...

i bought the 27UK600N on sale for £249 here in the UK back in 2018. It's the same as the 27UK850N except uses a cheaper non adjustable stand (i put mine on a monitor arm), Does not include speakers ( i use headsets) and lacks the USB C input. I just have my consoles plugged into it and it works a treat. I do use the DP port for my PC but usually only play PCVR so not actually looking at the monitor as i have a headset on. It's a great all purpose screen but now with LG releasing the C1 OLED in 42" this year i might upgrade to that and use this only as a second screen in portrait mode for chats and the like. But if you are on a budget and have limited space these are pretty decent.

The overall experience with usb-c monitor needs to be addressed with an asterisk. There's an overall bandwidth limit to the display output and data transfer since it's basically a hub within the monitor. With one usb-c cable for external display and charging at the same time, the monitor will offer two modes for usb-c in OSD menu setting: high resolution or high data speed. If you choose high resolution, yes you can maintain 4k 60hz output, but the speed for other ports are limited to 2.0 rather than 3.0. And if your choose high data speed mode, data transfer speed will remain at 3.0 standard, whereas the display output will be downgraded to 4k 30hz. That's my experience with Dell's U2720Q. Considering the price range and build quality of my monitor and the LG one here, I don't think LG won't cut corners on this one in terms of ports speed and output profile. Just be careful when anyone is in need of a setup like this.

I considered 27UP850 as well but went with U2723QE. My thought process: Why U2723QE is better? - IPS Black panel with doubled contrast ratio. - More and superior ports as USB hub. (I think 27UP850 only supports 4K60Hz with USB 2.0 speed?) - Built-in power supply. - Slightly more DCI-P3 coverage (98% vs 95% of LG) - Better design (to my eyes - not a fan of LG's curved base). - Displayport chaining and KVM (in case I need to use it with PC) Why 27UP850 is better? (and why they don't matter as much to me) - 96w power delivery over USB C (compared to 90w of Dell) - the difference is really small. - AMD Free Sync - I don't game. - Built in speaker - I heard quality is mediocre. - Lower listed price ($550 vs $780) - U2723QE is now on sale for $625, and Amex is offering $120 credit (valid before Apr 2), I actually got U2723QE at around $500.

Hi i have the UP model. Good monitor, The 96W charging over usb-c be careful, if you have a portable with a additional cpu, their is a chance that you will not be able to use usb-c without connecting a power adaptor, your portable is using more juice that it can deliver (my case my ZBOOK G5 15 workstation freezes and you hear continuous sound of device found disconnect). Also if your pc returns from sleep and your screen is sleeping, usb-c doesn’t wake up, only option is to toggle off screen and toggle on (moment lg turn on sound detection is back ok) -> windows only issue MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020, iPad Pro 2021 both work perfect with this screen and usb-c. What i find a disadvantage is that you cannot disable PD with usb-c.

Would love to get your review on the Eve Spectrum! Been thinking on pairing it with my M1 Max, saw some people getting 4K/144Hz with it on eve's forum

What do you think about the new studio display? I had this LG monitor and the colors just don’t match the quality of apple displays.

Hi, great video 👌 Do you think it will be a good idea to plug a Ethernet adapter on the back of the monitor (on a USB-A port) ? My Ethernet speed is currently under the gigabyte so I think I should not slow down the data. So I don’t have to buy a docking station.

This came across my list, but I went with the ergo one, 32 inch because I really liked the c-clamp monitor arm that came with it.

I have a question. Can someone answer my question or can you do a video about it. Maybe you said that in your videos but I don't know. Should I use always low power mode on my Mac and is it harmful or not. If someone can answer me and show me a reliable source I would be happy, but a video would be better! I almost forgot! Can you also say if screensavers are good? I don't know how good they are but I want to use them some times. So are they harmful and should I use them or not?

Hii brother: Would you please review the Gigabyte M32U monitor? I recently bought this monitor and using it with a type c cable with my m1 MacBook air. As you are an expert in this subject and fortunate to try out the best monitors for mac, I would like to know how the Gigabyte M32U monitor compares to the best monitors. Thank you.

Why not the LG 27UN880 ergo? Before there was only the 32 inch version and since last year there is also a 27 inch version. Is it worse than the UN850?

For video editing you don't need a 10bit monitor you don't even need a rec.709 monitor, is editing not colors grading. 🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️
