I'm finally starting on what I've wanted to make for a long long time, an Enfield Shaker Cabinet. I'm doing it the old school way with only hand tools.
(with the exception of a drill that I eventually use for pilot holes)
Today we'll try to turn the knob with things in my shop. I do have a lathe in storage 9000 miles away so of course a few bolts and 2x4s will do (they don't ... really). I did turn a decent knob though I eventually use a power lathe - which I really really miss mine. I don't show the actual turning since it was not my property BUT I will be making more knobs in the future so we'll video it then.
I also make the latch for the door which is an oval piece of wood with a wedged dowel through it.
It all turns out well and I am proud of my 'ultra' simple lathe idea BUT I feel I should note that do this at home. You know what is safe for you - use your head - if you dont' feel safe doing something stop and think of another approach! There is always 10 more ways something can be done!
Subscribe, Like and Comment so you don't miss any of this project getting done!
