An Iron Age hillfort near the town of St Columb Major, Castle an Dinas is one of the most important hillforts in the south west of Britain. Built in the 2nd or 3rd centuries BC, it is believed to be the site of King Arthur's hunting lodge and a centre of Cornish royal power in folklore.
The fort comprises of three ditch and rampart concentric circles, with the top being around 260m above sea level. There are magnificent views across Tregoss Moor and down to the sea at Newquay.
