Kino's sacrifrice hits so hard... he KNEW the only way off the factory ship was to swim. He knew he would die either way. He, like Luthen, laid down his life so the others would see a sunrise. When he said "I can't swim", almost with a shrug, it suddenly became clear what went on behind his eyes that day. He had accepted his death twice.

The little subtleties that Andor isn't as afraid of dying the more these shows go on - waiting until the last second to step off the floor back into his cell. Classic show-don't-tell moments like this all over this series, it's great. Kino knew the only way to escape was to swim, he knew he was not escaping this facility. He knew from the start. he did this for the other. In hindsight, watching this again is even more heartbreaking. Especially the speech, as he was saying all that he knew he himself would not be getting out. KK let Tony do this show the way he's gifted at doing spy thrillers/drama, Bourne triology. She unfortunately has spit in the faces of SW fans for so long that many are not watching this show and it shows in the metrics. I wished KK had done this with BoBF and OWK and maybe more fans would be tuned in to this master piece work. KK/Disney has made the biggest financial investment into this series than all of the other shows combined, the pay for Tony, production cost and marketing but since she has shitted on SW fans for so long they will lose money, GOOD, go woke and go broke.

@davidhernando353

I loved the episode, the best one so far, Andor has changed a lot, and he no longer hesitates to shoot an enemy on the ground, a huge change from the first episode, although he still doesn't kill in cold blood except if absolutely necessary. The prison escape is also the first operation that Andor creates and directs instead of being a member of the group. In addition, the empire creates an army of enemies in that prison, gives them order, structure, uniforms, teaches them to march and obey and act as a unit instead of individuals, leaders, hierarchy, discipline and most important of all, a reason to the rebellion The moment someone sees through the lie the entire imperial system falls apart. The more they oppress the more and more enemies they create, until they cannot subdue them all, it is a vicious circle that the Empire itself creates and from which it is unable to escape. It is also the episode of the great speeches, where both Kino and Luthen shine in their scenes. Both excellent characters. Excellent characters both and they can both go very far, but they will never reach the end of the path, they can only help others to make that path.

I love that they left Kino's fate ambiguous. Did he take a leap of faith and jumped into the water or did he stay on the ledge? We may never know, and that's par for the course with this series. Pretty much everything in it will give you a sense of unease, of being helpless and hopeless and that's by design. So when those those tiny gains come up, when the good guys win their small victories, it makes those moments so much more precious.

Fantastic episode, actors, script, show. After the slow burn tension building true stakes, true payoff. I love love love showing the Rebels are grey too, using families as hostage, sacrificing a cell for the cause, etc. It's not an accident Luthen is dressed like Darth Vader, without a helmet. :) ((While I understand the reasoning, similar to ISB trick using the pilot body they could have made a complex plan to fake why the attack is postponed and won't happen.)) I hope there will be even more informants, infiltrators, double agents, etc. on both sides. I had the unlikely theory for Mon's daughter, as they will start investigating Mon Mothma more her hands will be tied. The next question even if she takes the offer how to explain to the father? He will definately show a different face to her daughter enforcing Chandrilan tradition, however what is the excuse Mon will tell to her husband? Just let them meet then say how fruitful it would be to make such marriage? Her husband will see through such lie in a second. Or at the heat of ongoing investigation she confesses everything to her husband and why they need to do this or their family will be arrested, jailed, their wealth seized? (Funny thought: the young boy could marry Val, kekw.) How will Andor escape from that planet? It's like the Great Escape (movie about WW2 POW escape), 99.9% will be caught and shot or brought back soon. Blockade and raids all over the planet. It's like a bank robbery, or hitting any target. You might get lucky, but the response will be horrifying. Fleet coming out from hyperspace (literally 1 single Star Destroyer), fighters and probe droids swarming the planet, Stromtrooper regiment deployed sweeping all, etc. etc. Also I wonder how much they underestimate Maarva, or we underestime Meero. Is it only one spy watching over her, or it's way more complex, they might have even hacked her droid. Since they might not know how determined Maarva is, but they know she is the only bait/lead for Andor, and Andor for Axis. I suspect rebel activity on Ferrix, they try to rescue Bix, Maarva already checked some corridors and alternate entrances to the HQ, former Hotel. It would make sense if she would sacrifice herself if it's called for. It would make sense to finish this season with Andor becoming a true rebel, not looking for personal need, gain or forced but ready to doing things for the cause. Also if we are to see Andor's sister showing up, it's time. Maybe she is already with a rebel cell, and try helping on Narkina 5 when the word of a prison outbreak gets in their ears. Can't wait for the next one. Don't forget if you love this serie, the tone, the level of acting, script, etc. then head to imdb and rotten tomatoes and leave your score for it. Feedback is our strongest weapon.

When you two talked about the image of the three moons at the end of the movie, I noticed that it seems to be a metaphor. The biggest and brightest moon represents Kino Loy, who "enlightened" the prisoners, while in the distance, there are two smaller moons representing Cassian and Melshi escaping. In the next episode, Melshi tells Cassian that they might be the only survivors, but with the image of the three moons, I have a feeling that Kino will survive and appear in season two. Damn, maybe I'm just overthinking it.

I think Mon Mothma’s going to agree to an introduction, warn her daughter about it like “I know what this looks like but you absolutely don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do”, but her daughter hates her, she is naturally going to rebel against her mother. She’ll see that what her mother wants is for her to not get involved with this boy AT ALL. And she’s going to be introduced to this young, attractive, powerful, dangerous, charismatic boy and be like “are you kidding me mom, I’m all about this bad boy, stop trying to ruin my life, I’m marrying him, why don’t you want me to be happy” Mon Mothma is now in-laws with the head of a powerful crime family. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my...my eagerness to fight, they've set me on a path from which there is no escape. I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost and by the time I looked down, there was no longer any ground beneath my feet. What is my...what is my sacrifice? I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy, to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else's future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see. @The Movie Couple, 17:11 Do you really think he stayed up there, after that speech he gave to his brothers, about picking each other up and making it out? 5,000 prisoners are headed his way. Cassian could stop from being pushed out, what makes you think Kino will be able to keep holding his own ground? His equal, the nighttime manager will be making his way towards Kino shortly. If no one has helped Kino by then, you'd think he at least would. I still can't think any prisoner would leave anyone behind, especially after learning that their escape was made possible because of people on level 5 block D. I don't know when or where, but I think we'll see Kino Loy again. I refuse to believe that his brothers left him behind after that speech that he gave that lead everyone one of them to freedom. I'm more curious to learn how they get off the planet! Once the Empire gets wind of what's happened--if you watch the background of the final scene with Cassian and Melshi it looks like they already have with the search likes moving this way and that--you'd think they'd have ships and droids looking everywhere for them. Another great episode. Another episode making me worry about future Star Wars Disney Plus shows. I loved the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett, but they weren't as good as this! I hope the writing and acting we're seeing here makes its way into future shows. It probably won't happen =( but I'm still going to hope. Every single episode of Andor has been outstanding! I cannot wait to see the fall out from this next week and Mon Mothma's decision. What other options does she have? Luthen's got money, but does he have enough to help her? Can he help her? The money she needs is to fund the same things he's funding, so maybe that isn't an option =/

I don't know if the Empire will just blow up the prison, if they don't it would put them back of Kassa's trail, but if they were paranoid before this is gonna have them birthing kittens. I wonder if Kassa will go to Niamos first, pick up the loot and the Manifesto or go to Ferrix, there are scenes in the trailers that play out there.

I'm hoping the doctor or one of the other named prisoners help Kino, we only see Andor and Melshi at the end, theres a few named prisoners we didn't see escape that could have helped.

That lift was the only way in or out of each floor so they had to take the body through the workroom. The prisoners can only enter and leave that one way out.

I would love to see Kino somehow appear again in season 2 as a Rebel ground commander. The totally set up that proposal by Davos perfectly. Thinking we're just getting some worldbuilding with Chandrillan traditions and Mon's arranged marriage... And you have to know that when a gangster proposes something, it's not meant as a suggestion. The price is that their kids get married and he gets a more legit position. I can't wait to find out what he gets when Mon Mothma is found out to be a rebel and the Empire comes for him. Glorious day that will be.

I have never really been a fan of the rebellion. But after that speech from Luthen, how could I still support the empire.

If it has not been mentioned before, you forgot Melshi. He lives to Rogue One.

Melshi makes it to Rogue One, and we see the two of them running together in the night.

I’m pretty sure we’ll see Kino again - he just had his first swimming lesson. No doubt he’s capable of dog paddling his way to freedom 👍🏽

"these are just guards doing their jobs" Er, nah. You think the guards didn't know that they were recycling prisoners? I have no sympathy whatsoever for them.
