I couldn't agree with you more there, Chris...I'm from Australia & I live here but I have family in the US (almost all of them in CA) & have visited & number of times & played plenty of tennis there each time...plenty of us are saying exactly the same thing down here about retaining our respective links to grass court tennis & I always loved playing on grass down here when I was a teen & playing the best tennis of my life (until I was hit by a car travelling at 75 km/pr/hr & was never the same player after that, funnily enough!), despite the fact that I'm a baseliner with a big western forehand...& I was also fortunate to have been a ballkid at 3 x Oz Opens - the last to be held at beautiful old Kooyong & the first 2 at what was then the 'new' tennis centre...& while the 'new' tennis centre was/is amazing, with many km's of underground tunnels, the retractable roof over centre court (soon to be 4 of them) & how much it appeals to international players, NOTHING comes close to the magical atmosphere that I experienced during that final year at Kooyong & of course, we Aussies also have a very proud history upon grass, most recently would have been Pat Rafter at the start of this century & before that, Pat Cash in the '80s - & meanwhile, there have been very few players that were as phenomenal upon the surface as your lads Sampras & McEnroe, to name only two. Yes, we have Wimbledon as the ultimate grass court tournament but the US & Australia each have such an incredibly proud tennis history & grass is a HUGE chunk of both of our stories. Anyway mate, please excuse the ridiculous verbosity of this mini-novel of a post, it was never intended to be such a bumbling rant, honestly! Cheers & best wishes from "Down Under" to all who read this...Matt Forrester.

My friend was the coach that made him explode initially ( by winning the US Open) as one of the greatest of his generation, then some opportunists in the world of tennis played with his mind and took him away from the great "Tarik Benhabiles" one of the most gifted and greatest coaches in the world of tennis. This was the beginning of his decline and destruction. Benhabiles was his trainer since Andy was a kid, and he was the one that made him into a great player. Then comes along a bunch of financially scrupulous and ravenous materialistic money-hungry people who don't know Jack about tennis and told him to fire your foreign coach and get an American coach. The result was that Andy never progressed after that, and what he had achieved until then was the only thing he would achieve. The moral of the story is, do not STAB the people that made you who you are in the back; and that includes your parents, your friends, your coaches, and the people closer to you because they generally want you to succeed more than the new acquaintances that just appeared all of a sudden out of nowhere!!! Later on, Andy would regret his action and decision but it was too late because you can only be 20 once. Ask any famous great tennis player about this story and it will be collaborated!!!
