Probably the most honest coverage I have seen of the West Children. Many who have suffered child abuse will relate to this in some way and feel great empathy for her. What a brave woman to come out and talk about this. Everyone copes differently but many can relate to the drinking and then getting up each day and getting on with trying to lead a normal and successful life. These things never go away but one can move on and some invent a whole new persona, detach and become someone else. There is never a balance. I wish her all the healing possible in this life. Thank goodness they don’t lock girls up for running away from home anymore but in that there are now new risks. Young women are now trafficked like never before and there are other Fred and Roses out there.

It is so hard to believe that Anne-Marie, Mae and Stephen came from such an abusive family. All three of them come across as very articulate and intelligent, so caring and forgiving yet the torment they suffered at the hands of F & R is inconceivable to me!! Many years have passed now and I most sincerely hope that all of the West children are managing to live their lives as pain free as possible?!? I hope that they have the love and support now as adults that they didn't get when they were young. I hope also that peoples attitude towards them have changed, as non of us can really imagine what life must have been like for them, they have done NOTHING wrong and however they cope with life will be understandable given their past. Lel Uchiha yes, that's why he was probably given only 9 months or so in the prison, even the judge told that he was brought in such horrible conditions and also it was discovered that Stephen had a mental development of a 16 years old person, not a thirtysomething as he was then - so that's why he was "relating" more to teenagers - clearly somewhere after discovering of the murders committed by Wests went also wrong, and we have to remember, West children were betrayed by the child service systems for so many years and later they could have been let down again and let themselves alone (my English isn't perfect, sorry), what I mean is they weren't given enough care and help

I can not believe how strong you are, you are an amazing survivor, what could you do? As you say you were a child. As an abused child the hardest part is that people, even your own family do not seem to understand that you are a child when these disgusting, vile things went on and none of it was our choice. I was a naughty child and but nobody picked up what was happening to me, so I am not surprised the hospital didn't pick it up. It was my step father a violent sick man but I so wanted him to love me normally as a father, I never saw my own father. Like me, you never would want anyone to feel the way we did, as people often ask me why are you so nice. My Mother was very cruel and violent, especially after drinking. They had violent fights which were terrifying. Yet, when she died I was 28, I felt nothing for years, then one day I felt a terrible loss and still do. How brave of you were to leave especially as you were so young, I left at 15. Please try AA for your drinking, it will help you in so many ways and give you support, strength and love. It has saved my life because like you it is why I started to drink after my children's births because it brought everything I had put away back. Bless you and be kind to yourself, x

What an incredibly brave lady. I cried watching this trying to imagine the horror of a life she has had to endure. She has been let down in every way a child could be let down. First by her own father and then by the authorities. The hospital that dealt with her pregnancy, the child care system, the police, her so-called friends and neighbors and the newspapers. Just bloody awful. She should have been given millions in compensation for being a victim of a society that utterly failed her. And yet here she is speaking eloquently with love in her heart for her husband and children as well as for the sadistic father who abused her. Incredible. When you think about it, Anne Marie is strong evidence that serial killers are born and not made. Many many serial killers had perfectly normal childhoods with no abuse or torture at all and yet they go on to kill. Myra Hindley, for example, had a normal childhood and so did Jeffrey Dahmer, the BTK killer, Dennis Neilsen, Peter Sutcliffe and many more. Yet here Anne Marie (as well as her brother and sister still living) had one of the worst childhoods you can imagine yet the worst she does is drink alcohol to numb the inner pain she has to live with. And who can blame her? When I listen to the victims of these monsters the more I feel that their childhood lives should not be taken into consideration. Don't waste time on it. They are just damn right bad so put them in a cell and throw away the key. Let the psychiatrists try to figure them out in private but they don't deserve their story to be told, it doesn't change anything. I hope the care system has learned valuable lessons from this whole gruesome saga. My sincere prayer go out to you Anne Marie, you deserved better.

Such a sad story . I think she was so brave to sit down and talk about it . I hope her and her family have found peace . Nothing was her fault . I don't know how people could call and abuse her . She was a victim and her torture went on for years !

Anna Marie, you seem like such a sweetheart. I'm amazed you were able to have children and I hope you have some semblance of a happy life. You don't deserve any blame in this, you were just a child yourself.

Anne Marie Is an exceptional woman. Brave, courageous, and empathic. What she has been through is horrendous and yet she has a beautiful heart and the capacity to forgive. I am blown away by her. Bless you Anne Marie I hope your life has become easier to bear these days in the aftermath of all those atrocities.
