What. A. Tutorial. Just stunning tone, playing and teaching. Easily the best ABITW I've found. I'm only at the end of Lick 9 and already I've broken *three* B strings, my fingers are a mess, my head is cooked, but it's sounding glorious and I'm in Pink Floyd heaven. Thank you, thank you.

Great tutorial as usual! Regarding the wrong note, Gilmour told G. E. Smith that when he played the solo, he was only playing alongside the bass line. The keyboard chord progression with the Bb major was added later. So he knew about the mistake but since it wasn't glaring, it was kept.

That's a juicy detail thank you. I'm sure they felt it was a little unsettling, but with such a powerful solo they didn't care, and rightly so.

Finally!!! I'm in awe! :-) I actually even had the balls to play guitar in a Floyd tribute band some years ago, but now I`m just feeling slightly embarrassed, because I never really took the time to do it properly. Shame on me. THIS is how you do it. Its all in the details and nuances. Thank you!
Very, very interesting. David never striked me as a technical player, but rather very simple and pragmatic. That's why he's my favorite guitarist. Anyway, therefore, the mystery being an overdub makes a lot of sense.

You've done it. No finer example of how to play this iconic track laid down by one of the best, if not THE best guitar player who ever lived. And you captured all the nuance, texture, and most importantly, the "attack", which most guitar players do not even appreciate, feel, or grasp. Watching your video was a joy. Especially the passion you demonstrated revealing each morsel that makes this lick so delicious to hear, and exciting to play. Your dedication to the tiniest details is unparalleled and produced the most authentic example of the greatest rock solo ever laid down. It was like watching a forensic scientist perform an autopsy. Just beautiful man. Thank you for that. Loved it! Rich

I've been obsessed with this song ever since my cover band started playing it back in 2017. I learned the solo and the band liked it but it was pretty half assed to me. I've seen quite a few different takes on it but yours is the most in depth. I worked my fingers raw getting up to speed on it with this video. Awesome work I'm more inspired than ever to play this song and get the subtle nuances of this piece right rather than half assed. Thank you.

Hi Alberto. I've just "discovered" your channel on KZitem, and I have to say that your tutorial is by far the best I've seen anywhere on this song. I look forward to checking out more of your videos! One thing that I think - (just my opinion and the way I'm hearing it) - is happening that you don't mention is a very short "rake" into the very first note of the solo, and it seems very obvious to me when you play it slowed down. Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much for sharing this. Your ear is phenominal. I love this solo, and enjoy playing it most days, but not 5% so well as you play it, obviously. I will try to begin incorporating your insight into these great phrases. It will take me some time But that's fine, it is for my own pleasure. I think you have done a great job getting the guitar sound. Although I think that this solo can sound great with a number of different guitar tones. After all, David played it with his normal set up, on a les paul with P90s for the Albert Hall concert, but since then he has mostly played it on strats (black strat or red one with EMG's). I used to get really hung up on trying to spec my guitar like David's. I've a Strat with CS fat 50 neck, CS69 middle, SD SSL-5 bridge, Dyna Comp and Tube Screamer, but I've realised for some time that it is'nt the guitar or the equipment. It is how you play, it's in the dynamics and the feel. You show this perfectly with your playing. David Gilmour would sound like David Gilmour if he played a Gibson SG, and I would not sound like him at all if I played his black strat and full rig. So I try to play what sounds nice to me, and if I can manage to incorporate some of the insight from great players as yourself, then so much the better. So thanks again

I am still trying to learn this, I have made some progress. I have worked out the sound of the guitar is a part of the melody but I do not have a P90 pick up, I have HSH so I may need position 4 with less tone maybe 6 dial and less volume maybe 9 dial. I'll try that. I think he uses that swing thing in turn the controls to the centre of the sun which is eee swing than a longer e then d and f. No bending.

The tone is perfect not to mention every nuance. I have to ask what you’re using amp-wise and would love to hear how you went about nailing the tone so perfectly (beyond the nearly perfect guitar for the job). Ma più che la marca sono i settaggi, credo fosse comunque un plate lungo abbastanza warm.
