Great job as usual, Kyle. I’m glad you got a chance to try the amp and see what I was working on while at Kustom. Many of the features on the amp are borrowed from early Kustom (EQ, Tremolo/Vibe/Reverb w/Tone) and of course we used a bit of the old tuck n roll look. The clean channel has a lot of variety, but as you found out…it’s got a modern lead channel. The Pull Bright is my take on swinging the attack between a thicker/buzzier Recto/Marshall feel and my preference chunky/tighter 5150/XXX feel. I also added an Angus Boost knob on the back for solos and a cool sounding Speaker Simulation XLR out. Nice demo!

I know James Brown designed the original Peavey 5150 l and ll for EVH . I didn't think any of the kustom amps were high gain . Also , what a surprise, JB designed this kustom HG amp. You learn something new every time. This amp sounds better with boost pedals. Kyle knows how to make the amp come alive 🤣. 👍 Nice demo.

I’ve had a coupe 36 since 2005 or 2006 (whenever they were first available at retail) and been in a few bands from punk/ska to top40 cover bands (pop, country, rock, alternative) to metalcore/djent bands and it’s been used in all of them. People can’t believe it sounds good for metal especially given it’s looks. I’d get compliments like “ that thing is ugly but sounds ballsy as fk” lol always made me crack up getting compliments like that. Only thing I’ve ever had to do with it was change tubes, it’s a hell of a workhorse and a real hidden gem in the amp world. It’s never given me an issue and I’ve beat the shit out of this amp. Its actually been in a car accident yrs ago too…it busted thru my backseat from the trunk of my car when I took a 30ft dive off an overpass going 80 mph after falling asleep at the wheel 13-14 yrs ago now. Only damage to it was some Tolex tares and a small rip to the tuck and roll.

These were being sold on eBay a few years back as incomplete builds, either from Kustom or the manufacturer in China. You could pick it up as an empty chassis, PCB, transformers. You had to wire it all up . No head shell either… but you could get them for for under $200 on auction .

The new solid state Kustoms are pretty bad, but the old ones are amazing and unique clean amps (in my opinion at least.) They definitely don't do any kind of distortion well on their own but they take pedals like a champ and the cleans are unlike anything else
