Listening to you talk about Aubrey reminds me of Killeen and Harker Heights in the 80s and 90s. When I was a kid, in the late 60s and 70s, there was fine hunting around Killeen, Harker Heights and the Fort Hood reservation, especially quail hunting. There was a ranch, owned by Killeen's oldest citizen, Mr. Sprot, who lived on his ranch until he was 96. He was born in the house he lived in. He let us quail hunt his property all through the 1970s and I can't remember an outing on his place where we didn't bust at least a few covey of quail with 30-50 birds in a morning or evening hunt. Many times we'd bust 5, 6, 7 covey with 50-60 birds. And in those days, the Fort Hood reservation was mostly pristine, wild country. Now it's been torn to shit by army maneuvering and all of the land where we used to hunt has been developed. That place blew up over the last 30 years.

Resolution: Indicates the clarity of the screen . Higher resolution provides more detailed images. More pixels on the screen equals less blocky images and more defined detail like a 720 0r 1080 video Refresh Rate: Measured in Hertz (Hz), it represents how quickly the thermal sensor updates the image. A higher refresh rate results in smoother and more real-time visuals. Its said the human eye can detect somewhere between 60 to 75 hz. (Not 100% sure fact check me ) Detection Range: The maximum distance at which the scope can detect heat signatures. It's largely marketing in my opinion and everyone's eyes are different on this one. Field of View (FOV): The width of the observable area through the scope. A wider FOV is beneficial for situational awareness, while narrower FOV offers more magnification. I think FOV is crucial in a thermal because that little screen is your daylight, you can't come off the scope and look around quickly so target acquisition is much greater with more FOV.

Man I had the biggest brain fart ever, I felt like an idiot not answering this. Damn good job explaining this Whitmount. Next time I visit I’m going to go over a lot more stuff on thermal and NV, just getting caught up and having a good time was the only thing on my mind 😂

Hands down, other the podcast with your dad, this was the best. It had my dream team of hunters I want to hunt with. You brought up some things I relate to as far as age specific items (I'll be 45 in April). And super informative when it comes to thermal scopes. Great episode guys! Rix is getting pushed by Sgt of Arms, that may be where some of the hype on them is coming from. Eric highly suggested them to me.
