The worst is that it's actually cheaper for schools to buy local fresh products and prepare meals than buying industrial crap.

No it very much isn't. Industrial food products are way cheaper, when bought in bulk, than fresh food, unless all you're serving is buttered noodles.

Great segment even though both chefs were way out of their element. Back in the 60s a lot of the school meals were really good. In high school for breakfast we had a choice of freshly made donuts and other good homemade food. I guess I was lucky.

My Mom went to school in the 60s in the USA & all the towns best cooks would work at the school cafeteria ..All homecooked meals. It was a prideful job. I had defrosted chemicals for our lunch in the 90s/00s

wonder how many students are ordering their lunches via cellphone on their parents' door dash or skipthedishes accounts; before school starts, then having them delivered to the office when the lunch bell rings.

@@lou-e-303 hahaha please come to France and find out. It's almost certainly better than the US but then that's setting the bar very, very low. The romantization has to stop. These propaganda pieces dont reflect the majority of French society or the problems we face. Over-priced, frozen, canned and mass produced food abounds in school and university cafeterias, and a lot of it's gross.
