Thanks for the comment. I found your channel and subscribed. I have not made any new content in several years. I have been busy with my own farming adventures. I became organic certified in 2016. I grow field crops such as corn, rye , peas and others. I have a whole fleet of old model equipment I use. I have worked at tractor dealerships and made a living at times as a mechanic. If you have any questions let me know and I will be glad to help you.

Another Awesome instructional video. I will definitely use this info. I have a feeling the guys that looked at my tractor were trying to put the screws to me because they know I don't work on cars, truck, tractors, etc. I'm not sure my valves are really stuck like they said.

Which post on the Distributor cap does spark plug #1 go to ?. Hope you answer soon please.

What does it mean when I can't get spark out the end of my plug wires. The main fault I can find is there is no flash when you torn the key.it will either have power on the feed wire going to the coil from distributor or not depending on whether or not the points are making contact or not.after you release the key to the on position.

I understand the points and condenser. I have replaced my coil, my points, my spark plugs and lines. My 8n was running great. Then a few days later it just stopped dead. No warning just died. I thought it was a short and it turned out I was right. Fixed the wire coming from the coil to the points. Running good. Then it does the same thing so I thought there might be another short. I have found no other short. It is setting dead. Winter is here. I can't close up my bucket so the hydraulic piston is deployed and I'm afraid of rust so I have greased it and wrapped it with plastic. I cannot figure out what is wrong. I need it to start so I can store it out of the weather.

Thanks for the comment . I have not posted anything on KZitem in probably 7 years but this video still gets comments occasionally. At the time I had the idea of becoming a KZitem creator but it just wasn't for me. If I had been in a position to have someone else doing the recording and producing of the videos I might have made it. It just took so much time away from doing repairs. Unfortunately it seems like KZitem"s hay day is over for the small time players. We are almost back to the same thing we had with cable tv nothing but commercials.

What kind of lubricant did you use on the mechanical advance, centrifugal weight system of this side mounted distributor of a Ford 8N tractor? This is the only KZitem videos that even shows the mechanical advance system on a Ford 8N distributor.

Yes you can set the points with the distributor in the tractor. I had it out to make the video easier to film. You have to turn the engine over until the points are on top of the lobe.

I have a Satoh S650G Bison and I am having issues with the distributor timing. I took out the distributor and discover that the points are not made to open until AFTER the rotor bug passes its firing mark?...Is this normal. The Mazda is designed to run at 16 BTDC. How come the distributor will not open the points before the firing point but only a few degrees after?
@MRBoatwrights

I am not sure I understand your question. but if the points are closed it will make the light dim because that is how the points work they ground the negative side of the coil when closed If this does not help let me know and I will be glad to help you anyway I can.

My wires from distributor on 51 8n side mount to spark plugs were removed when I got tractor. How do I determine what is 1 on distributor cap to what plug
@ibsoarin
5 жыл бұрын
If the distributor is installed with correct timing, then the #1 spark plug wire connects to the distributor cap connection closest to the #1 spark plug (front plug). Firing order of a Ford 8N is 1-2-4-3 in a counterclockwise direction on the distributor cap.

@MRBoatwrights

It needs a few drops of engine oil every now and then not sure of the exact interval. I think if you lube it every time you change the oil that should be sufficient. You could also find an owner manual and it should have the interval listed in it.

How do you install the alternator fan belt on 3010 John Deere tractor
@MRBoatwrights
8 жыл бұрын
+Johnny Bartlett You have to remove the pump coupling to get the belt off. It is the aluminum block that is bolted together on the crank pulley. It has two 3/8 bolts and nuts on it. You have to remove the nuts then you unscrew the bolts. They are threaded into the block. Also check the rubber bushings while you have it off. If they are worn replace them.
