February 2, 2024 - “Antitrust at a Crossroads: The Challenge of Digital Platforms” explored the debate over how competition laws should apply to Big Tech firms.
In contrast to the past, firms now regularly face scrutiny from federal, state, and private actors in the United States in parallel with scrutiny from regulators in any number of other countries. At the same time, policymakers have either enacted or are considering enacting new legislation that would amend the legal frameworks applicable to online platforms.
The symposium, held by Penn Carey Law’s Journal of Law & Innovation (JLI), aimed to unravel the complexity of the current debate, providing insights into the ways regulators and companies are dealing with the digital realm.
Christopher Yoo, John H. Chestnut Professor of Law, Communication, and Computer & Information Science, is the Faculty Advisor of the JLI. Yoo also is the Founding Director of the Center for Technology, Innovation & Competition (CTIC).
