When this song came out I was in NYC. I was struggling to get my life all together but unable to grasp it. This song was there to encourage me. Every time I hear this song, my emotion goes back to that time. I am sending a message to me, 30 years younger, to hold on for a rough ride but you are going to be ok.

I am a retired former Marine Corps Sniper. I always believed that I was master of my emotions., my heart. But this song so passionately sung by Patti moves my heart like nothing else. I spent so much time away from the girl I loved that I lost her to another man. And as Patti Austin so eloquently put it..., even a fool would still be there holding you, any other fool but me.

Semper Fi Andy. I attended the scout sniper school when I was a young Marine in Okinawa in 1979. I stayed in the Corps for 8 years and this song when it came out hit me hard as well as It was during a time when i lost the person i loved more than anything. I thought I was a badass but that event reduced me to a such pain and sadness. Even to hear it now is extremely hard. USMC 1*7/-86 0311/

I was just listening to a top 5 from March 24th, 1990 on the radio this morning. It reminded me of this song, which I was lucky to catch on a lite rock station here in the Phoenix area back then. I am lucky to have gotten this CD not too long afterwards. A great follow up to this song would be "Bodyguard" by the Bee Gees, also another lucky catch on the radio back then. By the way, the top 5 from March 24, 1990 was: 5. I Wish It Would Rain Down - Phil Collins 4. Roam - The B-52's 3. Escapade - Janet Jackson 2. Love WIl Lead You Back - Taylor Dayne 1. Black Velvet - Alannah Myles

Any other fool would never walk away Even a fool would still be there, holding you I had it all, with you Lovely Just Lovely Time ran out Time does that Sometimes Cherish the moments They don't always last When you're with your love Time passes so fast Here I am Always, I am here And I am not confused I see things Crystal clear I smile because I can't do anything but We got to do and share and feel What some wait an entire Lifetime for We never counted losses Never kept score We knew that the love we had We shared was a choice Love never lost her voice We respected all that love is and could ever be The love we shared will supersede this life It is bigger than eternity That is where our love dwells Somewhat like a fairytale We entered this, not knowing Where life would lead us What heartbreak would teach us We caught all the blessings We learned all the lessons To live To love Is a gift We open it time and time Again I guess our love lasted will always last Because before we were ever lovers We were first and foremost Friends She smiles......
