As a classical music composer I know very well the issue, since it is basically impossible for me to be discovered by the audience of classical music, not only on Spotify, even on youtube. So I'm a bit skeptical Apple solved the problem, at least for us living composers.

Thanks for mentioning the competitor IDAGIO. I enjoy classical, but always found browsing the genre to be broken on current streaming platforms. Had no clue it was this bad. Happy to see Apple taking this seriously. I don't have an iPhone, so I'm trying out a subscription to IDAGIO now. Excited!

I think the philosophy behind what Apple is doing is looking at what's out there. Spotify is easy to use but its UI requires effort. You have to do a lot of organization if you want to have a really nice dashboard on Spotify. It's a UI that is both simple and complex at the same time, for different reasons. I think the tech out there today is overwhelming. Too many apps. It seems more about what the greater purpose of making an app and service that is probably not going to break even. It's offering customers a way to customize easily. Simplifying apps even further by just making a button on your screen. Appealing to everyone isn't enough anymore. You have to go the extra step and make their niche set of interests into an easily formed experience. I think this is driven by some kind of vision like that. Steve Jobs looked a lot at hardware, but now they see they can improve the user experience that currently exists.

You touched upon briefly, About Indian classical music. I hope they overcome complexity of Indian classical music styles, ragas and taals, and are able to add that

I like it but I didn’t want ANOTHER app, I wanted my music to be better organizad in one app. I downloaded the app but I will probable erase it because I’m not opening it. I’ve my classical music in “Music” so why moving? It annoys me that it doesn’t distinguish between a “song” and a “piece” (of music)

It’s a great first version. Using metadata to make it easier to find performances, and piece-based rather than song-based like pop. I dislike how it combines with Apple Music Library. So if I add Beeethoven to my Classical library, my weekly New Music Mix goes from Drake to opera.

That's totally not the case, I don't listen to artist depending on the name of the artist that is such a simplistic way to think about the people, he thinks of people who like pop as idiots
