Was seriously considering getting an Oklahoma joe bronco smoker, but now I'm leaning towards the Gateway.

Dale Sexton It is such a good barrel cooker. I have produced nothing short of excellent results using the gateway. I have no experience with the Oklahoma Joe but From reviews I believe it’s a good product as well. Let me know what you decide and thanks for checking out the video.

I'm very interested in purchasing this same blue Gateway Drum. Now with the pretty much required accessories, I'm looking at 1500 bucks. I still have to think before I pull the trigger. I'm more curious about the starter jacket haha. Unfortunately many people lost their lives over those stupid things in the early 90's.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on the Gateway Drum Smoker, but not sure whether to get the 30 or 55 gal. I have a small family and don't entertain too much.

I would recommend the 55 gal just in case. I don’t remember the difference in price, but I can say that the 1st time you need to cook something and it doesn’t fit, you may be upset with not pulling the trigger on the larger version. It honestly doesn’t take up much room and with an additional grill grate, it allows more options from the vertical footprint. Either way, you cant go wrong with the Gateway drum smoker, it produces phenomenal food. Let me know what you decide.

Ribs looked great. I had a pit barrel cooker and it was great. The only thing that bugged me was I didn’t think it was tall enough for ribs. I have the gateway hanger and it fits my 22” wsm perfect and I love the extra room. Are you able to get that smoker down in the 225 range?
@DskiGrillz

Sideyard Barbecue To be continued on the 225 question. I’m planning on doing a Tri Tip cook tomorrow where I shoot for 225. Thanks for checking out the video!! Have a good weekend!

I have a PBC and I've cooked a ton of ribs on it. Ribs fit fine on it.

You can cook at 225, but you need a water pan. Buy a second grate, put it on the lowest level, and fill a half pan with about two cups of water (or apple juice if you're feeling fancy). You can probably get it to burn at 225 without a water pan, but I don't think the wood chunks burn very well at that low temp and the smoke is pretty minimal. Gateways really want to burn hot.
