As a non-medical individual seeking information on taking my blood pressure for my own health, I was confused by the whole process. This is the best video available on the subject. Great job Dr. John! Thanks

My wife died in my arms recently in uk hospital, she was dehydrated undernourished and when I arrived in the ward I noticed her iv fluids were out and refil alarm was going off. I tried for over 3h to get a nurse to change it, but all i got from them is “I am not qualified to change it” all that was needed was a new bag of saline, but know. I watched my darling wife die in front of me of a heart attack, she was only 50. This hospital had a catalougue of mistakes I have noted before this. Its so sad she was treated like ths. Its broken me and my daughter.

Can a patient suffer a blood clot through an empty drip feed left open and no fluid being administered for approximately four hours? As several blood clots developed in the forearm the drip was administered into?

Dr. John Campbell Sir i ve got a question if you don t mind. Why is the partial pressure of gases in the alveolies different from the atmospheric pressure?
@Campbellteaching
5 жыл бұрын
Are you confusing two issues, pressure and partial pressure? Air in the alveoli will have a higher partial pressure of carbon dioxins because some has diffused out of the blood. It will have a lower partial pressure of oxygen as some has diffused in to the blood.

Dr. John Campbell Yes i am reading a book at the moment and it’s quite confusing. Thank you for clearing it out!
@Campbellteaching

In terms of overall pressure, the pressure in the alveoli will be slightly below atmospheric pressure during inspiration and slightly above atmospheric pressure during expiration, this is why the air moves in and out of the lungs. Partial pressure indicted the proportion of the overall pressure which is generated by a particular gas in the air under consideration.@@Punct124

At the beginning, when you mention clear fluids = 20 gtt/mL, is that also considered a drop factor?

Yes. In USA it's based on tubing size. It is correct.
