Awesome little lens! I’m impressed with what you shared. I’m enjoying my new 20mm and it gives me a decent sun star but that one is pretty legit.

Thanks man. I don't have affiliate status with Adorama, but I do at B&H and Amazon if you choose to use it. Either way thanks for the great feedback. www.hudsonhenry.com/atslinks

@@HudsonHenryPhoto yes I don’t know why I said adorama because I was on B&H. Lol. I will use your link to buy it. It shows as a pre-order right now tho. Do you know when they may drop it? Also I am gonna use your link to buy the 14-24mm f2.8s lens as well.

Impressive lens - look like its the king of sunstars. Appears to be great value and so much lighter than what i'm using. Not concerned about vignette but I'd like to compare it more with other lenses for other uses...

I'm going to carry it just for the sun stars. :) that's why I've been carrying the old 20 1.8 when my new S one is so vastly superior. :) I think it's plenty sharp at 5.6-11 for landscapes, but it's slow for dark skies.

I love sunstars. I recently bought 2 lenses to go on my Sony A7R3 that will give me outstanding sunstars as well, although neither of them were as economical as this Nisi lens. I got the Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 Loxia (This will also be my "Milky Way Lens".) and the Voightlander 12mm f/5.6. Both lenses, like the Nisi are manual everything, except that they do have the electric connections to relay the EXIF data to the camera. Both lenses have straight 10 bladed apertures, and both lenses make OUTSTANDING Sunstars!

I used to adore my Zeiss primes for F mount and I have the Voightlander 10 5.6 from my Sony days, but the new Z glass for the Nikons really has taken my breath away in every regard except sun stars. I kept the old 20mm F lens just for that. But this little guy is smaller, just as cheap and shoots them even wide open. So fun. For the Nikon shooters exploring the Z mount it's a marvel how good the new glass is, even the slow cheaper glass. It's wonderful seeing other manufacturers taking advantage of it too. All the companies are making such good gear these days. That's the objective view of it and it's great for us all.

@@HudsonHenryPhoto agreed. It would be hard to find a bad camera or lens from a major manufacturer these days, and when you consider the quality of Nisi filters, there is no reason not to expect that their lens would also be of exceptional quality .When friends ask me whether they should buy a Canon, a Nikon, or a Sony, I typically tell them "Look at the lenses that are available that you think you will need. Then go in to the local camera store & see which camera feels best in your hand. Buy that one if it has the lens selection you like. You will be happy with any of the main offerings from any of those manufacturers".

Great video, thank you! The sunstars are really beautiful ... Just got my Nikon Z6 yesterday (switching back to Nikon after 8 months with Fuji) and now I have to do some research what lenses I will buy :) You videos are very helpful. Shame that there is still no lightweight Z tele zoom for hiking photography. The DX 50-250 would be a great workaround but only for the Z7 where you keep 20+ megapixels.

Hey Hudson, great video as always. 2 questions - 1st one is every lens I see in the super wide angle range has a design which is a big convex front lens that stops you from putting normal filters on it. How did NiSi build one with a flat front lens? 2nd- Can I use it like a normal mf super wide angle lens like the Rokinon 14mm or will the sun star feature cause me problems.
@HudsonHenryPhoto

It's an F4 that's the biggest difference. Yeah, it's sharper and better contrast than my Rokinon 14 SP. It's not my 14-24 S... But it's less than 1/4 the cost. :)

I was interested in the birds, and when googled, Clark's Nutcrackers have a very distinct bill. I believe these birds @ 8:57 to be called, Canada Jay. I could be wrongly identifying, though I'm no expert. Just look different is all. Great video though, Hudson! Thank you. By the way, I ordered a Move Shoot Move - Star Tracker, all while using your link and code. Thanks again! I will support you as much as I could. I'd love to use it with you on a future workshop in my neck of the woods, Yosemite National Park, California. Hope it comes to be!

That is be great. I've been eyeing a Yosemite or Owen's valley workshop. Love it down there. :) You're totally right. They're Canada Jays. Never trust your parents to have taught you the right identification decades ago. Another viewer educated me a few days ago. :)

Great review, thanks! As a sunstar afficionado, I’m thinking of getting one. Did you try any night shots / city shots with street lamps etc? Curious how it will render lights in those circumstances.

It throws great stars off any fine point source. I've really fallen in love my the star from my 24-120 Z lens since though. I actually sold the Nisi after getting it.
