Hi! great video. Only one thing... you don't need the Eve app to use it as a toggle button. Now you can use "Convert to shorcut" when you are assigning accesories... now you can "script" the desired behavior when you press the button (turn off when light is on... turn on when light is off). I had this in the Eve app but now with homekit shorcuts this works as a charm.

Oh interesting. I will have to check that out. I haven’t used shortcuts much besides NFC tags and a couple other quick things. Thanks for letting me know.

I use the Philips Hue Dimmer Switch to control HomeKit with a light switch. Each button is customizable, and you can mount it to your wall with screws. These Aqara switches look aesthetically really nice though. I like the minimalist design and look of the big buttons compared to my Hue switches.

Thanks! That’s good to know Eric. I didn't know the Philips Hue Dimmer Switch could also be be customized for other Homekit products.

Great video Eric! I haven’t tried the rocker switches but I love all my other Aqara stuff. I have a few of the mini switches. One is being used as a HomeKit doorbell and I have another one hidden that the family can use to turn on/off the alarm system.

can you please help me with my issue. so in my new rented place the owner have placed the light switch for the kitchen lights behind the fridge (pretty dumb) and i need to use wireless switch in my prefered place to achieve what i want the following parts needed 1- aqara hub 2- aqara smart switch 3- aqara smart wireless switch. can you please tell me if i am right or wrong?
@ModernDayTech

Correct. You can use automations within the Aqara app to sync the wired and wireless switches.

1.Can you ask siri to control devices connected to the hub? 2.Can you see/control devices connected to the hub via the home app on iOS? (Particularly also the devices that only supports zigbee and can’t natively be connected to homekit) Thanks!
@ModernDayTech

It depends. Most Aqara devices are exposed to Homekit but some are not. All must use the Aqara Hub though.

Do you have a Homekit Hub?
@djaber_laifa
4 жыл бұрын
yes aqara hub You did not understand my intention, I can control everything through the application of aqara with cellular data, but in the Home app for Apple I can not only via wifi and I want a way to control the application of Apple with cellular data
@ModernDayTech
4 жыл бұрын
Djaber Laifa The Aqara Hub is NOT a Homekit hub. To control things in your house when your not home via cellular (from the Home app) you need a HOMEKIT HUB in addition to the Aqara hub. Which can be a Apple TV 4+, iPad with iOS 13+ or an HomePod.

Sorta Don. Aqara is focusing primarily on Homekit but they do have A & G integration, but the switches them selfs currently are not brought over to A&G But the Aqara plug and sensor are. Plus it's kinda buggy for A&G right now.

How does that dual switch appear in HomeKit? 2 seperate switches?
@ModernDayTech
4 жыл бұрын
Hi, The dual switch is one tile in the Home (HomeKit app) with NO option to separate into two tiles. You can have actions for both switches (rockers) though. Each can do three actions. Single press, double press, and long press. (Even more, actions are available if you use the Aqara app and plugs) If you get the Home+ app, you can separate the tiles but it does not convey back to the Homekit app. Depending on what you planning or thinking about, you might want to try the Home+ app although I don't see ant benefit of separating the switches since the device you really want to control is the other side (a homekit plug or device) I would love to know why you would want them separated?

ModernDayTech hey mate, so i have 2 non-aqara bulbs in my room and was thinking i could control them separately with dual switch but don’t think since home app shows it as a single switch right?

Hi! If i install a wired aqara switch at 1st floor for my stairs steps lights, can i use wireless aqara switch at the 2nd floor to control the same lights eventhough the lights are not from aqara?
@ModernDayTech
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do the automation either in the aqara app (cause they both aqara products) or use the homekit app cause both devices are exposed to homekit. Make sense?
@lindas8610

ModernDayTech Can I use the same wireless switch to control other lights that has their own wired aqara switches? Lets say i use double rocker wireless switch. Left switch one click for the steps lights from 1st floor to 2nd floor, left switch double click for steps lights from 2nd floor to 3rd floor & right switch for the pendant light. All the 3 lights have seperate wired aqara switches. Can i do that?
@ModernDayTech
4 жыл бұрын
Yep, all through automations. With the double rocker, you have 9 automations options in the aqara app and 6 automation options in homekit. (use one or the other, not both) If you use the double "wired" switch you can use the second switch to control the other floor even if it's not hardwired. (through automations) I have an example of using the second switch through automations rather than being hardwired in my review - kzitem.info/news/bejne/qn1-rquKooKEmmk

You still need the Aqara hub for all Aqara accessories. Once in HK you can control other HK accessories including Phillip hue devices that are expose to HK through the Phillips hue hub.
