This is a project by drummer Aquiles Priester and guitarist Gustavo Carmo for one album called Our Lives 13 Years Later (there's a cool story behind this name) and a "Live in Studio" DVD. Aquiles recently toured with Dragonforce. Check our Aquiles' KZitem channel, there's tons of material for you to react. :)

Aquila’s Priester is a well known pro drummer. He played for Angra for like 7 years and also played for DragonForce for sometime as well. He even tried out for Dream Theater back in the day. I think he has been playing for like 17+ years. Bad ass drummer.

In this DVD, Aquiles and Gustavo wrote each song with 10 bpm more than the previous one. The first one starts with 130 bpm, then 140, 150 ... Achilles had a week to train the songs on the DVD, and 2 days before the recording he was hospitalized, because he was training double bass more than 10 hours a day. And it ended up forcing the abdomen, and if I'm not mistaken, it broke an internal blood vessel. He almost died, underwent two surgeries and even today he takes medicine to "tune" the blood so he can pass through this blood vessel.

Jim, if you haven't found out more already here is a summary of this Brazilian ensamble: Aquiles is the drummer, best known for his work with Hangar, Angra, Tony McAlpine and more recently W.A.S.P. The dude is an absolute beast. Gustavo Carmo is the founder, composer and producer of VersOver, another Brazilian band facebook.com/VersOver. This video is from Aquiles and Gustavo's studio DVD off of their album "13 years later", which as composed and arranged based on the drum grooves Aquiles recorded over a couple of years. Gustavo then glued them together and put the rest of the music on top. Gustavo's most recent work is VersOver's third studio CD, Hell's Inc. You can watch the music video for the track Enemy here kzitem.info/news/bejne/z59_s5uHkXilZ4o and the album is available on streaming. The cover and graphics for the CD were done by Hugh Syme. Physical copies can be found on CDbaby and in Japan online stores. . open.spotify.com/album/1bif3pwqwERx5pCsXuOxSG . play.google.com/store/music/album?id=Bno2yosrg3kcjbarogg5baemhv4 . www.deezer.com/album/50100922 . itunes.apple.com/br/album/hells-inc/id1297136529 .

On that note, another relatively unknown band is Communic. Check out their song Raven's Cry, I think you'll enjoy it. It's prog metal, more on the metal side, with clean vocals that remind most of Warrel Dane from Nevermore.

Paradigm Shift, Freedom of Speech, Universal Mind, Biaxident, Another Dimension and When The Water Breaks are all better songs imo and therefore more worth of a reaction. Not that Acid Rain is a bad song by any stretch.

I'll suggest a ton of stuff. Fellow followers of the channel can "upvote" specific songs which they agree would be good choices by commenting them as answers to this comment to help filter some particular things for Jim. I don't know if it would float your boat but Al Di Meola would be fun. Pretty much anything from any album between Elegant Gypsy and Electric Rendenzvous is absolutely great stuff. Between The Buried And Me is amazing. I would highly recommend you put on hold the most usual suspects though. People will ask for Ants of The Sky, White Walls, Swim to the Moon, etc. My opinion? Listen to Turn on the Darkness first. Classy, beautiful song. then you can get to those I mentioned that people will usually recommend. Dream Theater would be lots of fun too. Take the Time, Learning to live, Voices, A Change of Seasons, Hell's Kitchen + Lines in the Sand, Fatal Tragedy, Beyond This Life, Home, The Glass Prison, This Dying Soul, Stream of Consciousness, In the Name of God, Octavarium, In the Presence of Enemies (parts 1 and 2), Constant Motion, The Dark Eternal Night, The Ministry of Lost Souls, A Nightmare to Remember, The Count of Tuscany, Lost Not Forgotten, This is the Life (criminally underrated song from the album it is from), Breaking All Illusions, Surrender to Reason, Illumination Theory, A New Beginning, Our New World (listen to this one only after the others, it's a great little song, but not as epic or exciting enough as a reaction to precede the other ones). PS: I would avoid live versions of their songs, the only phew exceptions being some songs from Live At Budokan that have enough different bits to justify having to put up with LaBrie live. I'm a huge fan, but anyone that's a fan but not a fanboy will agree that LaBrie is pretty sketchy live. From Haken, other songs that you will definitely like as much as you did the others that you've already reacted to include Falling Back to Earth, Pareidolia, Lapse, Earthrise, The Endless Knot, among others. Liquid Tension Experiment: Paradigm Shift, Kindred Spirits, Freedom of Speech, Universal Mind, Biaxident, Another Dimension, When the Water Breaks. Any of these would be amazing. Native Construct. Amazing and super original prog metal act that sounds like, Dream Theater, Between the Buried and Me, Queen, and Broadway musicals had a beautiful baby. Best song by far would be Chromatic Aberration but The Spark of the Archon, Passage, Come Hell or High Water and, later on, Your Familiar Face would all be great as well. Others from Opeth: any of the longer ones from My Arms, Your Hearse; pretty much anything from Still Life; The Leper Affinity, Harvest, The Drapery Falls, The Funeral Portrait, Blackwater Park, Master's Apprentice, By the Pain I See in Others, Windowpane, Ghost of Perdition, The Baying of the Hounds, Beneath the Mire, Hours of Wealth (this one is beautiful to the point of giving goosebumps), The Grand Conjuration, Hessian Peel, Cusp of Eternity, River, Sorceress. Pagan's Mind: Revelation to the End (if you like this one then I'll recommend other songs in your reaction of this one) Polyphia: Ivory, Paradise, Amour, 87, Sweet Tea, Champagne, Aviator, Hourglass, James Franco, Baditude. Protest the Hero: Bloodmeat, Sequoia Throne, Palms Read, Wretch, Goddess Bound, Goddess Gagged, C'est La Vie, Tapestry, Dunsel, The Reign Of Unending Terror, Drumhead Trial, Tilting Against Windmills, Plato's Tripartite, Mist, Underbite, Skies. Riverside: anything from "Love, Fear and the Time Machine" Shawn Lane: Not Again Snarky Puppy: What About Me? Symphony X: Of Sins and Shadows, Out of the Ashes, The Accolade, Pharaoh, The Witching Hour, The Divine Wings of Tragedy, Smoke and Mirrors, Church of the Machine, Through the Looking Glass, The Relic, Lady of the Snow, Communion and the Oracle, Egypt, Death of Balance, Wicked, Accolade II, King of Terrors, Awakenings, The Odyssey, Serpent's Kiss, Eve of Seduction, The Walls Of Babylon, Seven, Dehumanized, Heretic, Children of a Faceless God, When All is Lost, Electric Messiah, Reign In Madness, Nevermore, Underworld, Charon, To Hell and Back, Run with the Devil, Swan Song, Legend. TesseracT: Eden, basically Altered State in its entirety is their finest work in my opinion and a 10/10 album back to back, and I'm not even close to being crazy about djent so that says something about the quality of the album. Thank You Scientist: A Salesman's Guide to Non-Existence, Feed the Horses, Blood on the Radio, Suspicious Waveforms, Carnival, My Famed Disappearing Act. Unleash the Archers: The Coward's Way, False Walls, Earth and Ashes, Apex. Vektor: Cosmic Cortex From what I've seen from your videos you already know Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, Iron Maiden so I'm not suggesting those because of this, I assume Rush, Black Sabbath, etc wouldn't be first time listenings so I'm leaving those out too.

Have you heard of Between The Buried and Me before? I think you would REALLY dig them. Maybe listen to "The Coma Machine", "Astral Body" or anything off of their Album "Colors" some time. I think that's their most accessible and also most brilliant stuff.

Turn On The darkness would be the optimal first contact with the band in my opinion. At least for him from what I've seen so far on other videos. Plus it's just a beautiful song.
