Greatly appreciate the acknowledgement of how much information is out on KZitem and offline that might be misleading or all together incorrect. My favorite quote these days is: “everyone is a f*cking expert”.

1:8 is equal to one complete 360 degree rotation of the grooves every 8 inches. The bullet doesn't necessarily spins at the same rate (one bullet revolution/ eight inches) because the bullet is not attached to the grooves and lands mechanically.

Nice video. Just curious: does the barrel length include the chamber and throat which have no rifling?
@PracticalAccuracy
3 жыл бұрын
The ATF measures barrel length from the crown of the muzzle to the face of the bolt.(assuming you do not have a pin and welded flash suppressor). So this would include the chamber and throat even though there is no rifling. Good question. I hope the video was helpful.

Thank you for explaining the twist. Which is better for close combat and which is best for long range combat? And hello from kentucky LBL.
@PracticalAccuracy

Twist rate doesn't really matter for close combat or long range. I have a video explaing this. I have shot 1:9 twist out to 600 yards no problem. I have shot 1:8 twist out to 1000 yards. I also have a video of this as well. However, you should always test your specific ammo in your gun to verify. Thanks for watching. Hope this was helpful.

Hello.please🙏I have 20"in 1: 7 barrels 223 rem and what weight of cartridges should I shooting 200-300 yard?Thanks

You should be able to shoot 55 to 77 grains. I would start with 55 grains and see how it does. typically, 55 grains is cheaper to shoot. Good luck.

Sir, if you had a bunch of .223 American Eagle 55gr, Xtac 55gr? & IMI 62 gr, what upper twist and length would you choose for optimum bullet performance? I have it stuck in my head that my .223/5.56 stash isn't a good mate for my rifle. Currently, I have a 16" 1:7 twist and cannot test past 25 yards being a city dweller. Thank you if you answer this question.

Great video... I have a patrolman Bushmaster ar15. Ill have to look which barrel I have. Which do you think twist rate is the most accurate?
@PracticalAccuracy
3 жыл бұрын
It really doesn't matter, just try different ammo weight with your barrel. The twist rate doesn't equal Accuracy
@BuddWolf
Жыл бұрын
I disagree with the length/twist rate hypothesis. The projectile doesn’t start spinning until it reaches the actual barrel grooves. Barrel length includes the entire length of the round of ammunition, brass and bullet combined. Only in a revolver, would you not include the length of ammo.

@PracticalAccuracy

The last video is broken down into part 1 and part 2, where I do shooting demonstrations. The video is titled "Ar 15 Got accuracy? 5.56 nato. Why twist rate does not really matter w/ stability | accuracy. Pt 1." Sorry, but to prevent spam, I can't leave a link to the video in comment section. If you have specific questions after reviewing the videos, leave it in the comments and I'll get back to you.

@@FinalLugiaGuardian No. You can even shoot 55gr if you want. here I shoot 55 gr with 1/7 twist. kzitem.info/news/bejne/0YBr0ptrZmKfgG0
