Hi Matt- Ritesh from Augmented Startups here. Its my plan to create a course on AI in AR, but not at the moment. I'll let you know when Im ready for this course if you are interested in Colloborating. Great work on the AR news.

MatthewHallberg yeah we can do that, though it will take me about a month or 2 to finish my current course and move on to the cooler ML side of AR.

Hey man! Loving the videos so far. Keep it up! I'd recommend turning down the microphone volume while recording to prevent peaking, and then increasing the volume once editing the video together. Blender should also be able to do everything that Cinema 4D does (in most situations). Also, the line between CGI in film and AR is definitely blurring. Eventually live AR content will make its way into movies (maybe lower budget ones).

Thanks dude! I’ll have to try that I have been recording audio with QuickTime maybe I should use audacity or something cause I don’t think QuickTime has a volume setting. Any recommendations on what to use?
@jrrn-music

Audacity would definitely work with this. Try to keep your voice at -3 to -6db at your loudest point. It's really easy to increase the volume while editing, and impossible to remove that crackling sound if it's too loud. If you want to get fancy, check out Compression. When you're editing, you can apply some light compression to your voice which will reduce the loudest parts and increase the quietest parts. Makes it much more even.

Hey Matthew, I just found your channel. I totally dig it. As far as your remarks on the ML field of view, let me say, I never found the HoloLens field of view to be too bad unless I am trying to run VR type experiences in it. That said, having been working on Magic Leap applications throughout a lot of 2018 and having had access to the hardware for a number of months, I will back you up on your assessment. The field of view is a bit bigger, it feels a bit better and it is all about how we design our software to work with it. Hopefully, I will have some original ML work on my channel soon. Unfortunately, the stuff I have been working on so far is all under NDA. The one personal project I am working on at the moment is getting my Magic Leap to play with my HoloLenses. hopefully I will have something to show for that soon. Cheers,

Hi Matt, I’m a 3D motion designer and have seen some of Justin’s Cinema 4D working files. I was shocked it wasn’t AR, the entire sequence was modelled and textured in CGI. There was no comping real world video assets. It’s really an incredible animation. Awesome video! Thanks

Hello, MatthewHallberg. My name is Charles. I really like your video. May I ask you some questions? 1. When did you start this kind of artistic work? 2. Which is your favorite project so far and do you have your dream project you want to create? 3. What advice do you have for a multimedia students to make a good video? 4. How do you overcome failures in your design process? Thank you!

About the bridge shot, I'm pretty sure it's far from being AR, it's fully digital CGI (I've been working on both sides precalculated 3D and realtime)

Thx for sharing Magic Leap news=) With Cinema 4d you would have to spend hours for the rendering part. Then you would have to use Adobe After Effects for placing it perfectly in your video. So yeah it will give you professional looking video with 3d models but will have to spend couple days.

the hololens and ml r absolutely the same sort of tech..... the only difference is ml has one focal plane at 1m and anther at 3m (from technical drawings) and that can't quite approximate the light field but it's a start..... and the hololens is one focal plane just like other ar and vr headsets..... both use lcos and waveguides except ml has more layers of waveguides
@MatthewHallberg

Magic leaps funding says otherwise lol but honestly your right I’m trying to stay semi neutral on the subject until I can try both side by side.
@pumpuppthevolume
6 жыл бұрын
I'm just talking about the technical drawings of ml1.....they were trying to use fiber to send the video signal so apparently the headset would have been much smaller if it was working ..... and it's 2 focal planes because it's most likely very demanding on mobile hardware to render a few planes if they can at all manage more focal planes with this sort of optics..... but as far as ml1 compared to the hololens..... it's not a huge difference in practice
@MatthewHallberg
6 жыл бұрын
ohh ok ok, I didn't know the thing about the fiber thats interesting. But yeah the impression that I get is there optic system is different but not different enough to justify all the money and hype.
@pumpuppthevolume
6 жыл бұрын
one of the latest Rony tweets was claiming that with ml1..... the optics r a sufficient difference to be one of a kind thing .....and he is not wrong there r no other ar/vr headsets with multi focal planes .....but they had concept drawings about 6 focal planes..... and that could possibly approximate the light field quite a bit better than just 2 .....if u want to check what is commonly known from patents about what ml have been trying to do u have to check out kguttag.com if u haven't.....he can be very negative about some ml decisions and tactics but as far as what tech they have been experimenting with and have in ml1 it's pretty well explained

Thanks! But yeah I have been super interested in that for a while I would like to do it but I need a good hmd and I’m assuming when magic leap ships they are gonna have one built it. If I could get my hands on a project northstar headset that would be ideal with their hand tracking.

The red grim reaper is run of the mill CGI, just like Godzilla. Pure fiction (as opposed to reality), but I like that it's getting people interested! It's really nice that tracking is included in consumer editing software now!
@MatthewHallberg
6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I guess I forgot about that stuff editing software does have tracking I guess the technologies are more similar than I even thought.
@98Zai
6 жыл бұрын
Tracking in editing software is more like photogrammetry than AR, since you manually track a few points over all the frames to create a kind of 3D structure that you can attach stuff to (or so a friend told me :P). Now that we have monocular real-time tracking, I suspect those aspects of a video editors job will become much easier!
@MatthewHallberg
6 жыл бұрын
Ohh interesting that makes me wonder if any video editing software uses ml or object detection because I’m sure a common thing would be tracking a person.
@98Zai
6 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting idea! They probably will in the future, I can see news shows etc do stuff like that in real time, like highlighting the perp in a car chase etc. Do you think object detection is accurate enough, tracking wise, to hold up to current standards?

MatthewHallberg You're welcome. I was talking about the bridge thing obviously. If it's AR than almost every movie VFX in history should be called AR as well :) Cool channel btw. I like the new format as well. And the whole Magic Leap thing seems increasingly disappointing...
