If a protein bar has high polyol content can that affect how much of the protein that your body can absorb?

Hello Christopher, Thanks for your question. I don’t see any impact of polyols on protein absorption, especially because the absorption mechanisms are different. Having said that there are a few issues to consider: 1. Many protein bars are made (partly) with soy protein which isn’t optimal for muscle building, as opposed to whey protein. 2. There is definitely no requirement for protein bars in anyone’s diet, per se. The same benefits can be derived from regular food (dairy, eggs, lean meat) or cheaper supplements such as whey protein powder. 3. Overconsumption of protein bars with polyols may lead to gut issues since they can have a laxative effect when overconsumed. I hope that answers your question.
