Thanks for the tip. I just received my new tekton combo wrenches in SAE and METRIC they look great. Now I will test them. The pry bar didn’t break so it’s ok to me. I had a problem with a farmall seat bolt. I just to test brands of different sockets. I broke every socket that was available ten years ago. I even heated around the bolt and it didn’t come out. I ended up cutting it.

I know this video is old now, but the new line of 90 tooth ratchets with the one piece, floating pawl design are excellent. One of the highest pawl to anvil tooth contact counts on the market. With the fairly low cost you might look into moving up to the newer ratchets. Very helpful video.

Buying some this week, I'm impressed with the blue point 1/4 stubby ratchet. Had a 3/8 to 1/4 attachment on it with a swivel. Broke 18mm bolts free a 82 Benz today that were in some nasty spots. Thought for sure it was going to break with the torque I was putting on it. AC compressor replacement. Dropped the sub frame down 3" or so to get it to clear the frame. So as far as air tools ill be buying snap on/ blue point as a new mechanic. used or broken and ill rebuild them.

I just bought my first tekton tools,3/8 flex head ratchet and impact temper torx set, I just used them today the ratchet felt really good in every position I used it and T30 held up on a Audi ( cylinder head job) , and I'm looking at the screw drivers now, I will slowly replace my Pittsburgh tools, and yes I personally use screw drivers to: screw, mix epoxy, unplug the silicone tip when it gets hard, pry one valve covers, align components, check for spark, jumping starters xD, removed stripped out hex bolts, opening packages, holding a throttle body open, removing gaskets, setting tdc xD, and to open soda cans .

IMO, Tekton is positioning itself in the market much in the same manner as Gearwrench did 6-7 years ago - high quality tools at relatively low prices. We now (2017) see how Gearwrench is raising their prices with their newer p/n's, even going as far as packaging the tools in blow-molded cases very similar to SO, even using a very similar color scheme as SO. Apparently, GW wants their tools to look right at home in a box filled with tool truck goods. As a result, GW is not as as affordable as they once were. Tekton is picking up the slack and learning along the way. Their pry bars were poor, so they contracted Wilde to make them. Always looking to improve. Their US-made hand tools are highly competitive on pricing. Their impacts receive terrific feedback... still at a low price. I'm buying their tools while they're so inexpensive. Mark my words, it won't last. (I'm a very mediocre academic economist)

Quite a few people rate the screwdrivers so that worth having; toptul drive thru screwdrivers worth having too, but then the williams set like old style hard handle snapon are pretty cheap if hunt about for big set and they superb . Stubby wrenches like you say can't go wrong really. I don't like 6 point on the ratchet rings as find them harder use in tight areas . combo wrenches are probably one of better options in that price and sockets do work but I don't like sockets without knurl and bottom half satin as better to handle, also like the sockets that stepped in sizes full length rather than just inch at end, ones I used for years are premier taiwan and no more the 2-4bucks each when bought in rail set . image > s2.postimg.org/6ovqux4ix/sockets.jpg tekton extensions good buy and tend bust wobbles a bit so the warranty big plus on that item :-) I been spoilt with stahlwille and facom wrenches but those jumbo tekton are a good buy and heard a few people rate them . With ratchets most of the 72T taiwan ones are pretty good, those roto heads same as HF and many others rebranded, they tough but the QR type can't be stripped for lubing like non QR that have a allen screw . Certainly some useful stuff via tekton and picking cream from each brand way to go,

If look for odd brand taiwan cr-mo inpacts you will find proper nice ones for similar tekton cost but odd brands such as japan style, nutmaster (same as some mac sets), werkzueg etc. No tekton style warranty but I more than happy self warranty my impacts .

I think the Tekton ratchets are complete crap. There is a cheap fix though. For instance- that 3/8-24” ratchet you got there- swap them guts out with one of them pittsburgh composite ratchets. The parts are identical in size- but the Pittsburgh ratchet mechanisms are built to a higher spec I think.. The thing I like most about Tekton, and what I think makes them great is they sell tools in SETS!! just like snap on, and Matco. A 3/8” socket Set! A wrench set! It’s excellent. Another thing you will notice is their sets utilize almost every square inch of the cases they come in.. I can’t stand tool sets that come in them big bulbous cases, and the entire area of the top lid is tiny hex keys, or driver bits that are ridiculously spaced out.. Ain’t nobody got room for that!!

Tekton bit hit and miss in my opinion . Don't like the sockets (I am fussy on socket design though). not big fan on wrenches as both those things have way better options and wrenches worth spending little more on , stahlwille, facom and wright about best wrenches for the buck but some of tekton can have a place to fill in the range etc . Tekton do some pretty good pliers though and the striking prybars made by wilde good but can get exact same branded craftsman for half the price. Tekton warranty pretty good and main plus with brand really but I doubtful how company warranty will be in 1 or 2 decades and how the replacement tool quality will be in time as it a tough retail line to be in .
