The risk in undercooked ground meat comes from the process , which takes many cuts of meat and combined them together. Mass production thus increases the risk of salmonella But if you ground the meat fresh yourself , there is no increased risk.

I loved the podcast and look forward to the next one :) However, I really disagree with humans being defined as "Facultative Carnivores". Saying humans are "facultative" implies that while humans may prefer meat, humans CAN live on plants. Vegans and those eating our "standard" diet, which is mostly plant-based, have pretty much proved that this is not true. I would say that humans are Obligate Carnivores (obliged to eat meat) based on the fact that we can eat animal products long term without any signs of illness (in fact, we generally get healthier) and at the very least MUST eat meat occasionally to prevent illness. There are no plants products that humans MUST eat to remain healthy and, as you have both pointed out, there are many plant toxins that are certainly harmful to humans or prevent us from receiving nutrients from plants (lectins, oxalates, fiber, etc.). Humans lack the intestinal equipment to properly digest even cooked plants much less raw vegetables in salads and such (fruit being somewhat an exception). Many of us have watched people eating diets free of animal products deteriorate over time as they continually struggle to find the right balance of foods to get all they need and then take supplements to provide what no plant can give. Just look at the rash of "why I quit being a vegan" videos! That's why I think humans are Obligate Carnivores.

I agree with Amber regarding the protein intake guidance pendulum on social media. I dislike the use of macronutrient ratios when discussing protein intake because these ratios are so dependent on each individual's total caloric intake and weight management goals. I agree with Dr. Naiman that protein is the most satiating macronutrient, but only to a point. After you have reached your personal daily requirement for protein, then you stop craving protein and it instead simply gets metabolized as expensive energy and/or gives your gut bacteria a protein feast and gives you protein farts. I do not think that the "satiety index" is a straight line function as some wish to believe. In that regard, I definitely agree with Amber that fat then becomes the controlling macronutrient driving satiety. A 40% protein PSMF at 1000 calories is very effective for body fat loss, but not sustainable long term as Amber discussed. A 20% protein diet at 2000 calories is the same gram intake of protein, but likely more sustainable for the dieter. Of course protein has "calories." Autophagy is really the beneficial metabolism of damaged protein/amino acids in the body while replacing them with "new" protein/amino acids.

Ok...I sticked to carnivore for longer than one year. Going to be critic for optimal results. I don't think that 100% carnivore is the best on long term unless you fight some autoimmune issue. Take the mineral imbalance that doesn't resolve with tons of added salts but ameliorates with some veggies added to the diet. Starches too, and high insuline once in a while, are we sure they are so evil? Some mineral ritention they provide could be beneficial. I speak from my experience and am quite sure that a whole meat nose-to-tail diet is the best. Here in Italy we have lasting traditions of whole animal eating, you can find any part even tendons in many local groceries. You can even say that the mediterranean diet was organ meats based, they were consumed a lot by the elders. That said, some greens and some starches were included. No tribe in history has ever avoided any gram of vegetables, Inuits neither. Anybody else having improvements by adding plant foods strategically after the "reset"?

It is true that most if not all primitive human groups ate at least a small amount of vegetables / fruits. It is also true they were, of course, all seasonal, completely natural, local and scarce, and fruits weren't as sweet as today. That aside, in my case, greens fuck my stomach. The only one that doesn't as much is avocado, probably because of the high fat and not-as-extreme-fiber. I'm from Argentina, so it's pretty much the same as in Italy here, lol. You can find all organs and stuff in almost any local butcher. Sadly, we can't get raw dairy (shitty government regulating everything), and most of the grass-fed meat is exported.

I eat some veggies from time to time out of boredom, each person will have different needs and preferences, the key is to find something that can be incorporated as a lifestyle. Older tribes did had plants and some carbs but they werent in the same environment as today. back then scarcity was a issue, and also nowadays people are sick as hell for overdoing carbs and certain plants, that plus stress, polution, vaccines, etc have damaged our tolerance to things we considered normal and balanced.
@Marco-jx9rr

Yeah the season is a key, I totally agree. Also I don't eat veggies every day even in the spring/summer season when they are mostly available, I have digestive issues otherwise. It seems that eating veggies in a separate meal is best, they don't intefer with protein digestion in the stomach, I definetly resolved the acid reflux by avoiding staches and veggies for months. In Italy too the raw milk is almost out of law, some producers tried to even create a network of selling machines where you could refill the bottle with fresh raw milk, no need to say how shortly this good initiative lasted 🙄

LDL does increase for perhaps 25% of the population and increases very much for a subset of that population.

There’s nothing wrong with ground beef, per se, but it’s not ideal as the primary meat on a keto or carnivore diet. It would be best to get a chuck roast and some added fat and grind your own in a small hand grinder. You can control the amount of fat, you know the source, and you can eat it rare.

Another theory is that AFIB is really nothing wrong with the heart itself but a compressed spine. In other words, as we age we lose a bit of collagen, cartilege, and (I hope I'm saying this right) that the nerve which regulates heart beats get pinched. Similar to those who have an overactive bladder, there's also a corresponding nerve as well. I would take Ancestral Supplements, a Carnivore Diet, make homemade bone broth. I'm doing a simliar protocol for my 76 year old father who still works 60 hours a week welding on rooftops along 25 year olds. You can change your health around at any age, thank God. More on that can be found in videos by Dr. Peter Glidden and Dr. Joel Wallach; however, I cannot recommend their supplements. It is possible though to glean thought provoking information from people whose treatment you may not agree with? It's a start. My father is struggling with arthritis which is helped everyday by the Carnivore Diet. God bless. Brian Johnson at Ancestral Supplements is a resource and very helpful indeed. Collagen, Collagen and more Collegan. :-) I started putting a bit of Collagen in my coffee every morning and I swear I've grown an inch in one month. I'm 5'8" again. Yay.

Dude, the liver in supplements is freeze-dried, meaning all the water has been removed, so it's pointless to say that you're only getting 0.1 oz. of liver.... it's concentrated. Ok , I'm going to try to comment here . Not sure how accurate I am but I started my keto diet February 2017 , year later ,breakfast ,basicallly 3 to 4 eggs boiled and 3 strips no sugar uncured bacon and coffee , lunch , more animal protein , dinner , steak , sometimes asparagus , sometimes whipped heavy cream with blueberries , or strawberries after the steak . I could be leaving something important out but my question is I went through a bout of heart flutters and heart skips from March 2019 till almost the present when I recently started some Magnesium supplementation and then additionally used potassium supplements such as potassium citrate and avocados to stabilize my heart rhythm . The last 2 days with the addition of potassium seems much better . I was wearing a heart monitor for the past two weeks after seeing a local cardiologist . I should get some feedback soon . My question at this time is there a possibility that a carnivore diet requires a sufficient amount of beef to supply the electrolytes to be in balance ?
