Your 💯% right about the seventies and eighties, fur prices were really great back then, I started running traps with my dad in 1970, I was 8 years old at the time, started trapping on my in 74, back then a muskrat was $5, a possum was $5, mink was $20-30, raccoon was about the same all fur was good, we had colder winters back then, I live in south east Arkansas, which made for good quality fur, used to earn my weekend money trapping, help pay for my first truck, 1980 gmc, bought gas and and got me around in the winters months, it's really sad now that you can't make much money if any, I still trap coyotes, bobcat and nest raiders, I really enjoyed watching your videos up in Northern part of Arkansas great content

Keep things the same. I too started trapping in the late 70’s and there will never be a fur boom like that ever again. My dad wasn’t a trapper so I learned by trial and error and also fur, fish and game. I remember if you didn’t like the price from a fur buyer, you could walk across the street and there would be another buyer. It was super competitive, unlike today with only one major player. Thank you for sharing your videos 👍

I'm 50, female, and a taxidermist as well. Started trapping in 2000 due to foxes killing too many of my chickens and ducks, plus a turkey and even a freakin domestic goose. Here if you have at least 4 or 5 good farm locations set ( 4 or 5 different farms not right next to each other), you will catch a red fox just about every day between them, and some days 2 or 3. Thanks for the pretty rock outcroppings and creek footage at the end.

Good point about blank traps. I run 8 to 10 predator sets at a time mainly due to time restraints and I have a lot more empty traps than catches.

@@trappingtheozarks23 started trapping 2 years ago when coyotes took out All of our barn cats and foxes decimated the guinea fowl. Bonus...we now have a small flock of wild turkeys. Hoping someday the quail come back.

On a small property with a small line would you ever consider covering the trap sets with buckets (and maybe weights) if you were going to be away for a day or two as opposed to setting them off? Just curious.

The early 80s, wow wish I could relive them. A dozen # 1.75 victor offset coils were 36 bucks, the regular jaws were 34 bucks for a dozen. Gray fox was 41 bucks. Reds was 70 bucks. Cats were 120 and up. Coyote was 25 to 40. Coon was the same. Now it takes 4 or five fox hides to buy 1 trap. Sad time for the trapper.

Do you worry about transferring scent to your bedding tools when doing a redo set?

If your vlogs are good and you catch stuff once in a while it will do well. I subscribe to who i want to subscribe to.I dont subscribe to everyone, you know like some of the women i used to date. They were oversubscribers. Some of the others would have more subscribers, i dont subscribe to filthy language. Its a sign of ignorance.
