Bonkers, absolutely bonkers. Thank you so much for sharing this. It's really opened up this synth for my inexperienced self.

Dude this patch is seriously next level. lol I built it on mine and holy bejeezus! It does way more than you could ever fit into one video. the potential is insane! Anyone who owns a minibrute 2s needs to take the time to build this patch. You might learn something along the way

Dude thank you! This patch and this helpful video you devised have UNLOCKED this synth for me. I'm fairly new to the patch bay and this has really helped me understand it much better. Also, it turns this thing into a dope ass jam box that feels right to play. It gets down and dirty FAST and its so fun.

That's great to hear! The whole modular approach requires a little time and effort to understand, but what it unlocks helps you think about all aspects of synthesis and synths in my opinion. If you're looking for some more dives into patch building, then this playlist might be of interest - the last 3 videos in particular have the patch bay doing a lot of work!

Essentially, this video shows you how to '*use the patch bay*' to create '*separate instruments*' from the OUTPUT of each Wave-Type of VCO 1 《Sine, Square, Triangle, EXT(!!!neat trick!!!)》 NO EXTERNAL GEAR NEEDED for MULTI-INSTRUMENT songs! .. using Arturia Minibrute 2s Here is what you compromise: #1 Since you are using '*on-board knobs*' for shaping outputs of the various wave forms, you cannot use those knobs to shape their default assignments. #2 all sounds are related in one way or another to eachother, whether tempo, decay, or pitch, etc.. since it is using a single VCO to create most of the song, you can have some sounds without the others but changing certain settings will affect EVERY sound. Still... GENIUS!!! Love this video when using Arturia Minibrute 2s BUT still extremely useful with other Make/Models of synth!!! ... if they allow this much modulation/patch points/filter types. This video really shows the extreme customization that Arturia has allowed with the MINIBRUTE 2 (and 2s). Thank you Arturia for even conceptualizing a product like this.. WOW

So great! Thanks for making this - it was a fun exploration of what this new instrument I have can do. One thing I tweaked as I followed along is I switched OSC 2 over to LFO mode for the bass drum - turned all the way up, it gives pretty much the same sound as yours, but I also have the option to turn down the tuning when I accent with the longer releases - giving me a long sustained, but still low, hit.

This is years of pent up "I'm not getting into bloody modular!". I've had a lot of time to think 😉 The horrible thing is I'm sat there thinking "oh man, I could do with another VCA. And a mult or two. And maybe another modulation source, perhaps Maths? And I bet this would sound good going into Clouds" I'm doomed Omri. Pray for me.

I have to stop watching for a mo just to say, Oscillator Sink, Thank you. The way you explain everything is perfect. .. ‘a signal is being sent there so this is controlling that, which is being triggered by the other and that’s why your hearing the wooosh-wooo-waaa sound’ - brilliant. Thanks so much!!! I've needed those pointers on the relationship between gate and release for a while :-) Also, you made me realize that athough you patch the LFO to something new its original destination is still being affected. I was actually experimenting with both LFOs set exactly like yours in S&H, synced to a similar BMP with rate knobs around 2pm, because I know I'm looking for that sort of beat but I can only envy the ease with which you think about all this stuff...

Hello, I just patched up my MB exactly in the way you describe, and it worked great. It really helped me to see how you used the alternative functions (in the MB2S manual they call them “secondary functions”) of the sequencer. The documentation provides very little information on those functions and your video finally made it clear. It’s impressive how much you can do without any mults and a limited time range in the ADSR circuit. It’s also limiting without much CV control, though the “secondary functions” on the sequencer do help. I’m going to pipe the output through some of my modules to see I can mangle this a little. One question though: when you’re working only on the kick track (OSC2) and you have the other faders set all the way down, do you hear little clicks come through from the other tracks sometimes? I’ve been playing with the filter cutoff frequency and that seemed to help. Anyway, thanks again & cheers from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!
@OscillatorSink

I don't think I'm getting and bleed through from the other sources, but occasional clicks might be the filter or VCA opening on that very low tuned sine when it's not getting the pitch modulation - it's moving so slow that if if it's near the apex of the cycle you're basically opening up on DC - which will sound like a single pulse?

This is bloody amazing, would you say the minibrute2s is better as a percussive machine than for melodic duties?
@OscillatorSink
2 жыл бұрын
It's not the primary reason I'd buy one, but because if it's flexibility (and sequencer) it does well with those kinds of patches. Like I always say: anything is a drum machine if you're brave enough!

Hey man! Thanks again for the video. Just tried to recreate this patch in educational purposes, got almost everything right, but one thing. How do you modulate fm knob with the gate trigger? In my case it either triggers all of the notes or none. Thanks
@OscillatorSink
5 жыл бұрын
In my main (pitch) sequence I only have a few notes turned on, but they ring out because of the Amp VCA being open. So it's a patch from the Gate out, into the AD trigger, then from the AD out into the VCO1 FM. Any step you put a note on will get a pitch bump, then it'll just drone. Oh and make sure you're AD envelope is in trig mode. All make sense?

Link to performance is in the video description, but here it is again: kzitem.info/news/bejne/loN60miaqp1ydJw You could happily synchronise over MIDI if you just wanted the sequencers to run in sync.
