If I ever buy another kayak again, this will be the one! I had a Hobie Outback with the flipper drive that I ended up selling after realizing that my knees were too far gone for any extended time on the water. If I do get a 128T, it will get a trolling motor since it looks like the perfect platform.

Nice mods. Just some friendly information, two trolling motors are no faster than a single trolling motor. If anything it may be slowing you down slightly and draining your batteries twice as fast. Additionally, you should ditch the solar panel. Even in the Florida sun, with optimal conditions, you would need a panel the size of your kayak to even see the smallest benefit with the amperage being eaten by one motor let alone two. You can calculate these numbers yourself. Very cool setup though my man.

Im trying to understand why two trolling motors wouldn’t be faster than one. Two gas engines are faster than one (of the same power). 2 jet engines with 15,000 lbs of thrust each equals 30,000 lbs of thrust. Why wouldn’t that apply here? Draining his batteries twice as fast, definitely. Are you thinking of the power to weight ratio?

No, I need to see a video of it working. I think the torque on those little arms coming through the scupper holes is going to be too much.

Awesome idea! I've been wanting to get a new yak and have been looking at these and also trying to think of ways to add a trolling motor that I won't have to have a handle or pole and you have the best I've seen! The only downside i see to this is you cannot pull it up if going into shallow water which is a bummer. Theres always room for improvement though. What lb thrust motors did you go with on there? I didn't happen to hear if you said.
@NauticalXNature

Great point you make about shallow water concern. From my measurements the two 30 pound trolling motors have the shaft altered to allow floor clearance up to 1.5 feet from the bottom of the rudder to the base of the hull. I don’t mind standing in 1.5 feet of water if need. Also, I have the ability to raise the motors an additional 6” by design. It works very smooth. I hope your build provides you with great pleasure. Thanks for checking out the video.
