I want to say thank you to for making a very good video. I've got the GMC safari. It didn't have the belt when I bought it.

I feel so stupid, I was trying to unloosen the main pulley from the center, I didn’t know there was a tension release bolt….I’m soo dumb at times….thanks for sharing. I only needed this info and if it works I’ll let you know.

Thanks for this valuable video. I just changed out the idler pulley and tensioner in a 2002 RWD Astro Cargo Van. Just a few notes for anyone doing this procedure, don't have to remove the fan as stated in the video. I found that with the fan shroud and fan in place, space is very tight. Sometimes working under the vehicle at some points is easier as the tensioner is accessible from below the car. Overall an easy job, if I had to do it again probably about an hour to change out the tensioner, idler pulley and belt. God Bless!

I really needed to see how to remove the old one as the adjustable pully has sort of a give and take that prevents me from putting any torque into the turn. I don't know anything about engines or most terminologies so I'll have to keep looking.

Hello Sam my van had a belt to stretch and burn into your video helped me out a great deal and a good bit of time and helped me not bust anymore knuckles I had tried putting in over the fan only to realize it wouldn't work so Thanks for a great video took a whole two minutes to put the other belt on.

Junk works DIY Garage Thanks for the awesome video brother. I was wondering if you could help me figure out why it snapped to make sure i fix it right the first attempt. Scenario: Im not using my van much lately and has been sitting for almost 2 months... I start it once a week but last week i might have made the mistake of turning it on in -0 degree weather due to the flash winter storm. As soon as I started the van i heard a loud squeal ... followed by a rubber burning smell .. I turned off the car and applied w-40 lol ... turned on the van again and its symptoms continued... I turned off the van. Once the weather was warmer (today) I attempted to move the car and realized the steering was gone. I pop the hood and see my broken belt. Ill check to make sure the pulleys are straight... but could my attempt to start the van in -0 degree weather have caused this to slip and snap? I could you use your knowledge brother it would be much appreciated.

A tensioner tool comes in handy for some FWD cars. My wife's HHR barely has enough clearance to get the tensioner tool on the tensioner, there is no way you could get a ratchet on it. I prefer using a ratchet if it fits though because you can have the handle at whatever angle you want.

Thanks for the video brother, i was able to change my 2005 astro without removing the fan.. just moving the air box slightly. It helps if you have a jack and can get under the van to tension it from there. Thanks Again!

So the tensioner pulley does all of the work for keeping belt tension? My belt is slipping so I probably need a new tensioner?
