At least three people were shot Tuesday afternoon near Armature Works in Tampa's Heights District, according to Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw.
Officers with the Tampa Police Department said Tampa Fire Rescue had treated those who were hurt on scene. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.
Witnesses told police that they saw people running off from the scene, and the department confirmed investigators were looking for whoever was responsible.
The shooting happened just after 4 p.m. on the 1900 block of N. Ola Avenue, according to police. Police confirmed one person was shot in the arm, while a witness said another person was shot in the leg.
10 Tampa Bay's nearby weather camera captured some of the scene as it unfolded. One person appeared to be hurt and was receiving medical attention before first responders arrived. Other people were seen running away from the area.
"We just didn't know what to do until we heard more gunshots and then some security came over and then he told us to run. So, we ran toward the restaurant, toward the other side," one witness, who only wished to go by Val, described.
Val explained that the shooting happened "out of nowhere" while she was in a work meeting at Stones Throw. Before she knew it, she was trying to help a woman who she said had been shot in the leg and her baby.
"Everything happened so fast," she said. "I didn't know where the gunshots were coming from. I don't even know how she got hurt. I mean, she was right next to us. So, it was just very quick."
Police have not confirmed her description of events.
