😂The best part is that the 7 days week comes from Babylonia that was their sacred number that being the number of objects in our Solar System they could observe at the time: the sun, the moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. The Babylonians already had months, just like anyone else, and if you want to split up a period of around 29 days into a smaller period, why not divide it basically into four parts, especially when that number is damnably close to your holy number of seven? So the Babylonians used a seven-day week, with the seventh day having certain religious responsibilities (relaxation, cessation of work, worship) sounds familiar? 😅😂

The seven-day week has been used for thousands of years in many cultures, including China, India, the Middle East, and Europe. The Babylonians, who lived in what is now Iran, are thought to be responsible for the seven-day week as we know it today. Around 2300 BCE, King Sargon I of Akkad decreed a seven-day week based on the Babylonians' calendar, which was itself based on a Sumerian calendar from the 21st century BC. The Babylonians believed that dividing the 28-day lunar cycle into four weeks with seven days each would be beneficial. They also venerated the number seven and observed seven significant celestial bodies in the heavens, including the sun, moon, and five visible planets. Each day of the week was named after one of these celestial bodies- google it !

Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. There are 7 heavenly bodies visible to the naked eye which primitive people assumed were gods moving around relative to the fixed stars. (Not a bad explanation of the bodies' movement given the state of human knowledge). The primitive people gave each one a day, and some cultures decided to take one of those days as a rest day. Then the Hebrews wrote an origin story (Genesis 1) to explain this seven-day cycle (even though they already had an origin story Genesis 2, but it didn't explain the 6 days work + 1 day rest thingy.)

By two millennia BCE, the Babylonians divided the 29-day lunar month in a cycle of four 7-day weeks with holy days on days 7, 14, 21 and 28. Judaism either inherited or separately adopted the 7 day week and 7th-day Sabbath in the 1st millennium BCE. The system was widely used in the Middle East. The Roman Empire adopted Christianity and its 7-day week in the 4th century CE, and established it “worldwide”; Of course, whatever system won out would necessarily have had roots somewhere preserved in ancient law, but to say that Christians, Jews or Babylonians “predicted” world domination is teleological fallacy. Just as our planet here is cosmically perfect for Christian thought to thrive…

The seven day cycle was not a _prediction'_ it was a _convention_ adopted by the writers of Hebrew Bible, and by many other cultures. It's (approximately) a quarter of the lunar cycle so it's _convenient_ when devising a calendar. The _choice_ of a seven day cycle was further supported by belief in Astrology; there were seven known planets (counting Sun and Moon as "planets") at the time the "seven day week" was devised.

I don't see the relevance of the seven-day cycle. I'm astounded that people really think that it can be used as a legitimizing factor for one's religion. It does not matter if even just one, and no other, culture came up with the seven-day cycle. How does that prove that that culture's god is real and the true god? Do people other than Le Chef really use this argument? I'm also a little confused about how the mention of the seven-day cycle in the Bible is predictive of anything. Writing that the seven-day cycle is a good idea for some reason and then future people also coming to the same conclusion is not a prediction. In addition, stating that the next roll of the die is going to be a two and two just so happens to be the next roll of the die is also not proof of predictive capability.
