@@dirkparkins597 Hi Dirk, see this video for some more great tips on gear kzitem.info/news/bejne/pZWg3KSmsYVepKA. Hi Floss! Your videos have been such valuable resources as I’ve gotten into backcountry skiing. Thank you so much for the great information! I was out with my intro to backcountry skiing class yesterday, and the instructor asked if I was sure my MTN bindings were locked in touring mode. I believe these lock as soon as you step into them and the toe piece clicks into place, right? No need to pull up on the tab or anything? It only my third time using them, so the question made me second-guess myself a bit. It didn’t help when my ski popped off in some crummy snow on the way up 🤦♀️ For anyone else reading, please don’t let this comment dissuade you from purchasing these bindings-they are amazing! Conditions were terrible and I’m new to this… it was certainly user error. Greatly appreciate any info you can share!
@FreeFloFloss

Hi, to completely lock them you need to pull the bindings right up its an extra click after getting them on. Then they won`t come off. Does that make sense? Where are you doing your class?

I’m considering these bindings for a heavier touring ski, but I’m wondering if these are good in the downhill because i think it would be weird with a more downhill oriented ski with uphill oriented bindings. How are these on the downhill?? And are there any other recommendations for me??
@FreeFloFloss
Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for your comment! So I have been on these for 2-3 winter now and the downhill is ok! I wouldn’t say amazing. I had a massive fall in Norway- and they didn’t release it could be because the setting was wrong maybe! I am actually looking into getting ATK bindings as they are meant to be better. Do you know them?

@@FreeFloFloss I have never been touring before but I have heard they have great bindings. I’m trying to get into touring and I have found some skis that meets my needs but I have not found any bindings. I’m kinda in between getting these from the video or the new marker cruise bindings. Do you know any lightweight bindings you would recommend??

@@FreeFloFloss I’m referring to swapping out those U springs the binding comes with. Should be straight forward but it would be nice if a shop guy (or anybody who knows what they’re doing) did a quick video of the procedure. It’s the only “adjustment” on the binding as I understand things.

@@ThetinyhouseNet how would you put on your skins if you don't take off your skis? and to answer your question: this is the same as any other pin binding (as far as I know) - you need to unlock the front pins before being able to unlock the heel
@ThetinyhouseNet
2 жыл бұрын
@@raduku2009 It’s mainly while traveling uphill, if I need to sidestep over a small stream or other obstacle, it’s helpful to lock the heels down temporarily. My last AT bindings (Diamir Vipec) allowed this because there was a lever at the heel that would slide the heel piece forward and back. I think the much lighter weight of the Salomon MTN will be worth it, but I'll miss being able to briefly lock down my heel while climbing.
@Benzknees

Why use these rather than your Salomon Shifts? The trade-off of a bit more weight is surely worth it for the much greater elasticity, reliable release characteristics and ski brakes.
@FreeFloFloss
3 жыл бұрын
It's just to save weight. I use them for long tours. Over 1000m when I have to carry mountaineering gear or more gear when I am with client's. Otherwise it's the shifts for me. I am planning to ski mount blanc soon so I will use them then 😁 (weather depending) 🤞
