JUNE is not a good company. I don't know if their disc is a private label like their cup, however I encourage folks to stop supporting this company simply because it's cheap. I take a lot of issues with how they've hidden and outright lied about their cup being the same model sold on Alibaba (now it has a logo on it but it's still a private label cup shape) and how they took the Covid-19 pandemic and used it as a marketing opportunity. I could write a novel but please look for a reputable company to support with your money. It does not have to be a disc sold on my store (period.shop) just not that "brand." I don't expect the average consumer to know any of these facts but I wanted to share in case that is something important to you.

I love my menstrual cups. For years I've used the Softcup from Walgreens. Then last year I saw The Flex cup on the shelf & bought that as well. I love both & can't tell the difference btw them. I wear a glove to insert, clean & remove them. I use 1disc per menstrual cycyle while cleaning it in between by dumping it, & rinsing it w/water & reinserting it. All this time I have been removing, cleaning it & reinserting it everytime it would leak in the toilet. I thought I was leaking & never knew it was autodumping. So this is a huge blessing to learn about. I find that the disc stays in place for hours & I don't usually leak. Sometimes I do find that I start leaking when I am forming a clot. I can tell from the pain a clot is coming. Then I spot & start leaking. It seems that the clot blood escapes the disc & starts to run out of it so I leak. When I sit on the toilet & remove the disc, I find that I can see the clot in the disc. So that is something I am wondering about. I use to feel like the clot would escape the disc & I would pee it out when I am on the toilet. But that doesn't happen anymore. So that's my experience w/the wonderful discs. I now will see if the autodumping is enough when I go to the toilet, or if I will continue to rinse & reinsert everytime it does.

I was able to easily auto-dump while using the restroom just by bearing down a bit, as the instructions said. If just being in the sitting position and bearing down causes the dump, is there a risk of leaks while doing other things? Say yoga or swimming where you might be in different positions, physically exerting yourself, etc. So far I’ve only worn the disk on days I’m at home, while I get used to it. I’m nervous about having a huge leak while I’m out! Hey, thanks for your videos, they are super informative! I have a question that may sound silly, but if the auto-dumping is happening while going to the toilet, and being in that sitting position, can't it happen that I also auto-dump when I'm normally siting on a chair or if I bend over?

I wonder if wearing an ergonomically shaped disc like the ziggy backwards could prevent accidental auto dumping..🤔

What about working out? I’m imagining squatting or being in some similar position working out hard with force…and I’m going to be leaking all over?

I have a Flex that auto dumped and it was so disconcerting, I stopped using it after one time bcs I thought it would randomly leak. I’m going to give it a try again. However, I suspect I will need a backup liner or pad for any reside left after auto dumping.

Hi Kim or viewers I have 2 questions. Do you push the disc back up after auto dumping or does it take its position again naturally? How do you clean up after auto dumping? I think a little blood flows back under the disc while auto dumping, which will drip out again afterwards. Or are you wearing liners? So you may think you are leaking whereas it is left over blood from auto dumping?
@PeriodNirvana

I don’t have to re-tuck the disc but some do. I don’t wear any liners or period undies with discs but choose to when I’m testing new products - no leaks with my discs. Maybe someone else can speak to a residual leak like you’re wondering about.

Hi! I get residual leakage after both cup and disk usage. It's usually not very much; I usually just take some toilet paper and dab the inside of the vaginal opening to "mop up".

Would discs work just the same in women with a tilted cervix?
@PeriodNirvana
3 жыл бұрын
If the cervix is pointing towards your back it may be harder to get the disc to tuck behind and beneath. This is a good inquiry for your care provider if you’re not able to tell which way you tilt.

I have a severely retroverted uterus (my cervix curves and angles towards my belly button). The flex disc has been a total game changer for me. I don’t feel it at all while it’s in and I don’t leak at all! I’m 36 now and have unfortunately been a pad user since I was 8. I had tried and found all tampons to be sooo uncomfortable bc of the way my cervix sits. Definitely give it a try if you haven’t all ready.

Third cycle using a menstrual disc & I really don't like the auto dump. I've come from a cup with no mess & loved it. Except cups are no good for your cervix. :(

I was terrified to use any type of cup because like I am sure lots of people, I honestly was afraid of it getting stuck. I finally have given in starting last night and I was impressed didn't leak at all then today again and in trying to make sure it was still up there, I experienced the auto dump and semi-freaked out. Now I feel better because I know that that is. LOL I will say it felt like a murder scene this morning and I not knowing about the auto dump stood up a little and yeah......But pain-free for sure and I think I am panicking a bit so I didn't go a full 12 hours more like 7 but, I think that was just my overthinking and subconsciously thinking it was leaking! So far so good! thanks for this video!

KZitem ate my comment, this keeps happening! I wanted to say that this was an issue I had early on when trying discs. I figured out that for me it was my timidness. Once I really, really tucked and stopped being nervous and pushing too high it stopped the slipping. If that isn't the issue and it continues to slip it's possible the diameter is too wide for you and this causes it to not tuck well and "spring" out of place then slip. The only brand that makes smaller sized discs is Lumma at the moment.
@christalcavanaugh

Some discs like ziggy have this problem more than others. I imagine it’s the shape, but I’m not certain. If you can I would try another cup, maybe even a smaller lumma disc size

How will it not auto dump when you sit regularly (not on the toilet) I do not understand this at all 🧐
@i_lily
3 жыл бұрын
Auto-dump only happens when you use your pelvic muscles in the sitting position. So when you do #2 and even #1 you're using muscles that dislodge the disk a bit and have it auto-dump. I suppose that you might use those muscles at other times as well in a squatting position but those would be rare cases.

that type of accident would be considered a leak and a sign the disc isn't quite the perfect fit. If it's been a great product so far it could be a one time thing but if it happens on the regular a better fitting disc is probably the answer. But the real question is what got you laughing so hard?!

My flow is really heavy and sometimes when I sneeze, it is a OH OH moment for me, and I have to run to the bathroom, as it acts like I am squeezing my uterus. So, have you experienced any leaking when sneezing or coughing at all? Thank you!

Every since I had my daughter my cup has started to leak. Never once leaked the 4+ years I used it before pregnancy.. I’ve tried bigger sizes, different brands, low cervix to no avail. I’m been messing around with the disc, the single use ones worked first cycle and had no autodumping, but I’ve been struggling with the reusable ones. They don’t want to stay tucked. I don’t fully trust the discs yet and usually only wear them when I’m at home. I dislike the auto dumping as I can’t tell if it’s going to continue to leak afterwards.

I just started using the nixit 2 days ago and I hate it. I don't like that it autodumps, because even if I use toilet paper I still have residues of blood that gets in my underwear. And the whole point of using a cup/disc is to not use a pad.

Don't give up yet! Discs and cups both have a learning curve. Most people have some leaks and troubles in the first cycle or two or even three! What about the possibility of auto dumping during strenuous exercise? I play a lot of volleyball in addition to my workouts and dance (inverted poses and all that), wouldn’t it be possible to trigger an auto dump during any of those things?

It's very specific to the muscles you generally only use to bear down to pee or poop. The only time I've ever otherwise felt those muscles engage is when using strong force during an extended chore, like bearing down to push something into a box that won't fit. Those muscles don't get used during dancing or sports that I've ever noticed. They have a very focused "job."
