Thank you for the tips. One year later, the video is still helpful. These tips work well also when someone wants to sell a secondhand product too. About the traps, my biggest problem was and still is...how to take a good pictures of paintings. They have a different structure, they are not 2D as the photographs. So, I would love to see a video about photographing paintings and how to create prints from these photos.

Loving this series so far Nick! I'd like to comment on the fact that the focus in this video seems to be selling your work on social media platforms such as Instagram for monetary value. While a good and easy option for getting your printed content out there, there are so many other avenues artists can take to get more sales. Selling at art fairs and markets is one idea that comes to mind. Another is selling to local businesses where the "money" is replaced with "exposure" (you get a place to hang your work publicly, they get art in their business). Either way these are some killer tips in this video bud, and I look forward to the livestream.

Brad Hofman oh totally. I’ve covered a few of those ideas in previous videos and livestreams. I will say however out of all the different options I’ve tried, and I’ve tried quite a few, social media has been the largest source of exposure and income for me when it comes to selling my work. It’s a global market vs a local art market. It really depends on the type of work someone is selling as well. Flower photos and landscapes do better at the local art fairs and craft shows. It’s again knowing your target audience and knowing where to put the work in order for it to get in front of their eyes. Thanks for sharing dude! I appreciate your thinking deeper into this matter. Cheers

Hey Nick, I am enjoying this series on selling your work. My question to you is, What do you do in particular with your packaging that draws recent purchasers to buy more of your work in the future? In addition, how is the work presented to them (is it in a matte, frame or etc)?
@NickExposed
5 жыл бұрын
Hey Colin, That’s a great question. It’s subtle things like making sure that there is ample amount of protection for the works. I try to sell works matted as much as possible, so its nice that the matte and backing board have some rigidity to them already, but I always put them with heavy chip board, cardboard or foam core to give extra protection in shipping. There’s no poorer of an experience then purchasing a piece of fine art and having it arrived damaged because of improper packaging. On top of that I oversize the foam core or cardboard that its shipping with and mount the print in an archival sleeve on the center of the board. So the print is in the protection of the archival sleeve, but is also beautifully displayed in the center of the package when its opened. The print is always mounted so its facing them when they open the piece. I often include a personal note, and sometimes share stories about the piece that I haven’t otherwise shared. All of these little factors play together to ensure the excitement of their purchase carries through to the unboxing process. It leaves them feeling like they made a wise purchasing choice, and in turn reassures them that another in the future would not be a poor idea. Hopefully all of that helps to answer your question. Thanks

Hey nick I want to start selling my film case made by wood and my zines. Where do you recommend to sell? I never sold online
@NickExposed
6 жыл бұрын
Keigo Moriyama you can start simple and just sell them on Instagram. Otherwise Etsy, square space or shopify are three options with different platform feels depending on what you’re going for. My twostopsapparel.com site is ran through shopify, and I like the ease of use with it.

As a new photographer starting my business, what do you think which is the best way to promote your work and your product to the audience?
@NickExposed
6 жыл бұрын
Hao it really depends on the type of work you are shooting really. A commercial photographer would approach things different than a wedding or street photographer. And vice versa. Instagram does seem to be the place to be however. So I would suggest just connecting with the community you are serving and eventually trying to sell to on there. Interact with their posts, build a community. And then you will have a perfect platform to sell your work to.
