How are your feelings after Prague? Happy with the result? I‘m sure there‘s so much to learn from this level of comps! Regarding shoes… even Tomoa himself was switching between TN and FS 😂

I’m feeling pretty neutral about the event, and trying to save the full judgement until after Seoul so I have more to go on! And yeah it’s hard to decide between the 2 shoes haha

This was my home gym when I lived in Germany! It’s where I started climbing as well. This gym was a gem and I feel so lucky to have been able to go there and love seeing all the new boulders!

I used to love Studio bloc, the setting is pretty great. But for a while now they seem to move away from a gym for 'normal' people to a gym for the... more advanced boulderers. Do you think they are more honest than other gyms or just more difficult? I can easily do 1 to 2 higher grades in other gyms... Any tips on how to not get frustrated here?

I find enjoyment in trying a boulder that I find personally challenging, and often don’t worry too much about the grade! I also think when a gym uses circuit grading (Such as Studio Bloc) the actual font grades are ambiguous and you never really know what the actual grade you’re trying is. The numbers 1-7 are more of a guide in difficulty rather than actual grades. Hope that helps you think about it in a different way!

since you mention sleep cycle, do you make sure you get as much regular sun/outdoor exposure ? I used to skip that and since I improved this, my sleep and recovery improved drastically. I'm not into high level sport but I used to have bad recovery and joint pain days after big sessions and since I don't skip the sun the problem disappeared even if I'm way older.

Honestly I probably don’t get very much outdoor exposure even when I’m at home! Not something I’m super conscious of but maybe I should be

Hi Zach! ive always wanted to ask, how do you warm up for max effort finger board when you do your max hangs at home? i find it difficult to warm up and get recruited to pull hard as to compared to in the gym I can do easy climbs until I feel ready to pull hard.
@richardsonsclimbing

Good question! I actually do a LOT of hangs to warm up for my max hangs. Lots of hangs on the big edge, then the middle, then small, then middle with half crimp, then small with half crimp, then add 20lb, add 40lb, etc. I do like 3-4 reps for all of these variations so it’s quite a thorough warm up!

@@richardsonsclimbing interesting. i would have guessed that you would also do like pull ups or scapula warm ups but it seems you purely just focus on the fingers and forearm. cool ! ill give it a go myself
