At 2:55 - in our legal ethics class the prof jokingly suggested developing a minor drinking problem so that if you do get in trouble with bar discipline you can always blame it on substance abuse / addiction the first time and "rehabilitation" is easy through treating the addiction. It's harder to say how you'll "rehabilitate" being stupid, lazy, or corrupt.

The case of an insurance company suing itself: I was sued by State Farm when a vehicle I didn't own and wasn't driving was in an accident in a city I'd never been to. They used a lawyer that normally did debt collection, and I googled him and found his normal business was collecting default judgments, and that he made a ridiculous number of mistakes in his filings. On the advice of a lawyer who turned out to be his buddy, I gave the suing lawyer enough documentation to show I was not the owner of the vehicle. That is, I did his research for him. He amended his complaint to say I was the driver, which was contradicted by the police report, and one of the pieces of documentation I had provided was that police report, because the one he filed was not legible. So I hired an attorney who wasn't his buddy, and he solved the problem for me with a phone call. And the bottom line is that State Farm was also my insurance company, so if they had won their case, they would have had to pay the damages. My attorney (the real one) characterized it as the case of an insurance company suing itself. Importantly: I can't prove it was him, but prior to being served, someone verified my identity over the phone by claiming to be calling from a hospital.

In Texas it is very hard for an attorney to get any discipline. We had to sue our school district because our daughter is in a wheelchair and often had trouble getting into school and missed many functions because they were not wheelchair accessible. The attorney representing the District lied many times in recorded ARD meetings (basically an agreed upon meeting where agreements and statements are recorded and legally binding). Lied about multiple requirements to meet ADA standards. Made multiple appeals to the AG for public records proving ADA violations, misappropriation of funds, inappropriate actions and false statements in recorded board meetings by administrators and board members, and emails proving ADA violations to be removed as public records because they were "Security Risks exposing weaknesses in the Districts School infrastructure". Then at the end, lied that the district would not take action to fix and/or mediate the ADA violations so to prepare for a court case including a private call to our attorney. The next day we had a scheduled meeting. When I drove up to the school there were multiple areas that were already under construction. A board member later admitted that they knew they would not win and made arrangements to start addressing our concerns after our very first request and submission of evidence of the issues, but their attorney wanted to continue to fight us to ring up our legal fees (and her fees). All of this was documented and sent to the Texas Bar Association. I got a letter back stating that my complaint was more of a question and the Bar doesn't address questions. There was no question it was very detailed with the issues. Only an attorney would consider it a question to avoid action. They also encouraged us to get an attorney to file the complaint......

LOL I remember years ago, in the nineties, before checks were as thorough as they are, a disbarred attorney who was practicing law under another attorney's name. The attorney had died so his license had expired. The disbarred attorney (defrauded large sums from clients I believe and also incompetent) told the Bar that he was the dead attorney and that he had been on extended sick leave and had changed his name to that of the disbarred attorney. And they believed him and renewed the dead attorney's license in the disbarred attorney's name. He kept it up for a number of years, was happily continuing to be a lousy attorney, but got caught I believe because of the number of ineffectiveness of counsel complaints against him.

Starting at 4:12 in your video; about the woman not wanting to litigate, dragging her feet: Yep. That happened to me back in 1992. I had a good case. I wrote up all the reports myself, but that still didn't help me, because this attorney from Morgan Hill, CA. kept going up to the courts in the City of Santa Clara and asking for continuance, after continuance, after continuance ($350 for every trip). Before she did that to me, she bragged about doing that with another client, down in Monterey County. She just dragged it out until she got what she wanted from the court. It wasn't what I wanted, because I was in the right, but she just didn't want to litigate anything! She talked about how bad the system was and how much more she was going to charge me if I didn't accept this compromise! I knew something was wrong, there, but had no guidance on what to do!

I acquired the practice of a soon-to-be-disbarred attorney, although I didn’t know that at the time. When I learned and confronted him, he just looked at me said, matter of factly, that he didn’t think it was relevant. Unfortunately, the bar in my state disagreed and slapped me with a complaint saying that I was practicing law in cahoots with a disbarred attorney. It was nonsense (he hadn’t done any law work after the disbarment date), but it resolved itself only after a hearing in front of the state Supreme Court where the chief justice herself admitted that the court erred in not giving clear instructions as to the procedure for winding down that practice. Anyway, that was 19 years ago, and I’m still a kinda sour about the entire affair. I still practice law. The disbarred attorney spent time as a guest of the federal prison system, and now works as a paralegal for the attorney who proximately caused his disbarment in the first place. Ye gods.

I can represent both of you and get this over with quick and simple. NOT. Waving blank pages at the judge saying that it is actual evidence, and judges accept that. Ex-husband goes to jail for not being able to pay child support. Previous Ex-wife owes child support and never has to pay it and never goes to jail. Child support is 20% of your income. But when you have no income, child support is 20% + $1000 per year x 15 years = $15000 over charged. They take everything you have and complain that you do not spend more on the child. DO NOT HAVE KIDS. BABY MOMAS AND THEIR ATTORNEYS LIE WORSE THAN THE POLICE AND THE CORRUPT JUDGES GO ALONG WITH IT.

4:50 Notwithstanding ethical obligations of honesty, Attorneys still have all of the Rights of Free Speech. Commentary being 'disparaging' or 'impugning' of the judiciary is quintessentially protected speech - being critical of the government and government actors is fundamental to the right of free speech. Attorneys have a right to call a Judge a fat, biased, prejudicial cow (mixing both personal and professional insults), for instance, though doing so _in court_ as opposed to public speech could definitely be seen as contemptuous, and doing so will definitely not earn you any favors with the judge in question.

The ONLY reason I can think of for them not showing up was they were very sick or possibly drunk and you should never show up at court drunk, especially a lawyer.

Government licensure for constitutionally-protected rights and practices should be abolished. One should not have to beg the king to practice freedom.

You have never collapsed anything into 60 seconds of talking. Not a crticism. We enjoy it when you bloviate.

I've been a union electrician for 30 years. There aren't any super villains. LOL Most of us just want to get through the day and go home in one piece. The Arabic sign is new. What's it mean?

I reckon there would be another matter that made the BAR get involved in the first place and that would be the client who had been wronged or there about. Who corrects those mistakes where the accused attorney/firm screwed up the clients action against or in defense of? Is that concern against the client attorney handled by the BAR or the attorney's E&O insurance and who files the case against another attorney? We have found that FEW lawyers will file against another attorney. Also, we are aware of the BAR having annual budgets which may limit their involvement with attorney complaints. Then what are the damaged clients left with?

When I was a general contractor. I took over the completion of a high end house. The living room had 20 foot ceilings, with motorized lights to lower them so you could changed the bulbs. One was not working correctly, so I was going to change the limit switchs position. I noticed that one fuse was replaced with a bolt. That is not only a bad electrician, but possibly criminal

While I’m not an attorney, I think I would rather be in the back section, vs in the front section. I’m just saying.😮
