A couple of suggestions that you may or might not have tried but I've tried myself and had decent success. Hold the rat still and hovering like you did and then suddenly drop the rat. I let the head rest almost entirely on the tub floor and then let the rear plunk down. It's the only way I can get my enchi female to take (Note: I have to also pretty much remove myself entirely and almost blind feed her this way as well as lights out and using a lowlight red headlamp). Get some hot, if not boiling water and dip rodents head in for 5 seconds and immediately offer, if they don't strike but seem interested you can repeat. Try putting her in a smaller tub and/or get 2 hides that fit her snugly. Aside from that it's my policy that anything other than hatchlings who refuse a meal get skipped a week before I offer another meal. If they refuse again I skip 2 weeks before offering again and continue offerings every 2 weeks until they eat. They are monitored via scale for weight loss and as long as everything (husbandry and such) is good I don't worry.
@FashoV

I wonder if it's easy enough for these balls to get their meals out in the wild. Because when I look at this video as well as looking at my ball when I feed it, each ball python seems to sniff out/stalk their prey for way too long. I am assuming that in the wild, they do not smell it for so long (or figure out what it is) because they are not presented with their food like they are in captivity.
@JLGReptiles

Size, temperature, moisture of the offering are meaningful. Many owners fail to consider the lighting and their presence as factors affecting reptiles acceptance of food. The best observation for last. This comes from my education asa biochemist. Aside from how "hungry" the reptile is, exists another overlooked factor; what does the enclosure smell like? Often, the substrate (flooring, bedding, whatever) is made from materials that can present off-putting odors. A prime example is printed paper. The compounds used in processing the paper and more particularly any VOC's used in printed matter will affect the appetite of and palatability of food offered the animal.

That ultramel reminds me too damn much of my male pastel pied. He went on a 6 month hunger strike and I was about to try assist feeding him because he finally started dropping weight which scared the piss out of me, but all of a sudden he started back up again and hasn't gone over a month w/o eating since. Seems like every other feed though he behaves just like the the ultramel here and I'll just leave the rat there and half the time about a half hour later he just slides over and is like "oh look! dinner! and I didn't even have to 'kill' it" and starts chowin' down.

I have a ball python that is a picky eater and would only take live rodents, the other day I tried again with the frozen thawed just to see what would happen. He didnt take it from the tongs but I left it in with him and to my surprise he immediately proceeded to eat it! Not sure if he'll do it again or if it was just a one time thing but I'd see what happens if u left it in with her for a bit. I know this was filmed awhile ago so I'm sure shes eating by now, but it may be something to try in the future if u have a snake that turns down food from the tongs.

@@JLGReptiles tried it again with 2 of my balls today, both were only eating live, one snatched it up within a couple minutes, constricted it and the othe one I was talking about just ate it without constricting it. It shocked the hell out of me. I never thought theyd be interested in the rodent unless they thought it was alive which is why I used the tongs to move the mouse around. I also didnt think theyd eat it unless they were to strike and constrict it. I was obviously wrong. It has been working so far. Obviously dont leave it in very long. I also put it in warm water until it was warm and then heated up the head of the rodent. It does work but I'm sure it just depends on the snake

Have you tried drying the thawed rodent them warming it - you can wrap it in a dishtowel-sized towel or rag and place on a heat pad until it is warm. BPs are much more likely to eat a thawed rodent when it is dry and warm. Thawed do have nutrients! They are a bit more "mushy" because the cell walls break, but that also makes a thawed rodent easier to digest. In captivity we do not always provide the exact temps the animal might want, so an easier-to-digest rodent can be a plus.

2months thats nothing at all for an bp thats has eaten regular, in the past n just went off, the only thing to do about (lawrd I Thought everyone knew that, 🙅♂️BUT......No shade tho, its just what I thought?) This situation Is NOTHING, and the best n only thing there's to do is NOTHING because there is NOTHING wrong. When Jake is n shed, I Don't even attempt to feed n shed at allllllllllllllllll, rather its n Blue, after blue, or anytime, once I noticed that Jake is N shed I automatically don't do his weakly feed till after because I know he's hurting, he'sbeen waiting to craw out' and that takes a lot of energy to on, So I pay more attention to his humidity, and place a wet towel on the top of Jake's screan to bump it up from 50 to 70 and watch that closely, n then I know hell sheen one peace eye caps n alll, so I know he had a great shed n I know he's def going to be ready to eat (if it's when he's eating "on feed" before going off, like every bp🙍♂️😅😂 does every single yr) Jake's Goe's off from Nov-March somewhere around there, so if can give u some advice as to documenting when, how long, and her weight, because usually they do ten to go off around or very near the same time of you year, the people who r lucky like me👏😅, 60% of BP'S go' off feed around the same time that Jake does. Is the breading season for them even if there not getting any, and alone, n the wild they will wouldn't be eating because they would litterly be on the hunt for a female, so just believe there alone n our tubs n tanks it still there natural impulse. Now the reason I said right it down, is because it's perfectly normal for them to do this anytime of year. Its the pattern that should be the same n heathly, like it can last up to 90days some where around their, they should loose no weight, or very little, and should start bk eating (when it's their normal off feed time is over) With no problem and regularly. So again lol u to is nothing because there's nothing wrong, use just don't try (once ur sure their off feed) try for 2 months, if not u give em another month, u don't want to assist feed, or seek vet care until after 4 -6months, only 6 for adults.
