You are my go to artist for “how to” videos on lighting. The education you provide isn’t model specific. It can be applied to other projects. Thank you for all you do and the good you’re contributing to the world. ❤

Hi . Very interesting to me . Ive been a military modeller for 45 years and have never lit a model . Given all the armour kits with full interiors that abound , i might give it a go after seeing this . Thanks . M

Chris - I'm commenting here in hopes you don't miss this comment so please forgive me for hijacking this. Could you detail the info for the pins and magnets you used in the Jupiter 2 build? I'm about to start my 3rd build - this time because I fired my lights. Magnets would have been a real life saver. Also, where can I find the graphic you used for the add on room. I really appreciate your effort and look forward to some info.

I just reviewed my J2 part 11 video I did, because it's been 4 years now, and I list in the video that I used 10x5x3mm neodymium N52 magnets. I would’ve gotten them from Ebay. The metal pins I guess were just furniture pegs for shelves. 38 seconds in on part 11 of the build I cover this part.

When taking 4k video, please try not having a rotating ceiling fan above you that flickers on all of the reflective parts of the scene (e.g. the box lid, the plastic bags, etc). It's almost painful.

That Looks REALLY Good!!! but, where did you get your lights from?? Is it a store or 'E-bay'?? What size is that "littlest light", I have not seen one That small, ( nor that "fragile-looking" ). Lastly, That kit IS Really small!!

I just buy LEDs from either Ebay or Amazon. The little LEDs are the smallest made. 0402 SMD LED. Sometimes called pico. They're 1mm in size. The larger one used to light the fiber optics is a standard 3mm LED. The fiber optics I also get from Ebay. These particular fibers were .25mm diameter.

Do you not have a problem later on using a red sharpie? I have used it in the past and found that with a white light behind it bleaches the red out. I admit that it was when I used grain of wheat bulbs and haven't tried it with LEDs. (Anyone know if the light from an LED is different from GOW?)
@modelsbychris
10 ай бұрын
Can't really say. I have used it in the past and they're still red. But on this build, I actually ended up dabbing a bit of clear red and clear yellow on the end after doing the test dry fit. I'll be mentioning that on part II. Just have it a bit more color.

It's strange to me that certain things that could already be molded into the design, would instead have photo etch.
@modelsbychris
10 ай бұрын
Yes. I wish Bandai and other companies would mold them to already be ready to back light. Like the Bandai Star Destroyer is. Wouldn't be hard for cockpits.
