Hi Steve, As always, very informative video, thanks 😊 Here is a cabling question for you: how to connect amplified speakers (Beolab, or to list a more recent one, Balance) to a « legacy » B&O system like a Beomaster without Powerlink plugs ?
@soundsheavenly

@@christopheboudier94 Sure, there will be an option for just about any Beomaster. For Beomaster 6000 I suggest taking the RCA Tape 2 outputs to the Balance with this cable: soundsheavenly.com/hifi-av/112-498-minijack-to-twin-phono-rca-line-ipod-to-hifi.html#/2-length-1m

Hi Steve! Thanks for this video. I just inherited a beosound 2000. I am trying to find an adapter for it to plug in my phone to the aux input. Online research suggests I buy a 5pin to aux/3.5 mm. However, when counting the pins on the female input on my 2000, there are 7 pin holes. Should I be buying a 5pin or 7pin? If you have the time to help out that would be great. Thank you!

Yes, I can help! This cable will allow you to connect an iPhone to the Aux socket on the back of your B&O system (iPhone 7 and above need a Lightning adapter from an Apple store as well):- soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/67-299-minijack-to-aux-in-ipod-to-beosound-beomaster-beocenter-using-aux-din-socket.html#/3-length-2m Please set the phone volume to maximum when connecting to the B&O system - this is normal when using a portable music player with a home audio system due to the low output levels produced by the phone. To listen to the phone, simply press "A.Aux" on the B&O keypad, or select this on the B&O remote control by pressing the "LIST" button until the display shows "A.AUX", then pressing "GO". Please don't worry that my cables have 5 pins instead of 7, as they fit and work perfectly in the 7 pin sockets on your system. The other two pins are only used for remote control data to other B&O products, so they are spare in this application. Using 5 pin plugs allows the cables to also fit pre-1986 B&O products, which used 5 pin sockets.

About the display for the beolab 4500. Wouldnt a power link cable do the same? Why would you choose speaker link? Also. Would the display show anything if connected to a Core? Thank you.
@soundsheavenly
3 жыл бұрын
Mk.1 Beolab Penta speakers don't have Powerlink sockets, so these speakers can only light their displays if Speakerlink cables are used. For newer mk.2 and mk.3 Pentas with Powerlink sockets, please always use the Powerlink connections for the best sound with a B&O system. Newer products made since around 2013 (including the Core) cannot light up the speaker displays, but the speakers will still play from the Core without the displays working.

Hi Steve. Thank you very much for the information of using a 1611 between a BeoLab 2000 and a source. is it also possible with a 1611 for a BeoLab 3500? I know it's a little differently structured. Thanks again from Denmark

Hi Bo, yes you can use the 1611 converter with a Beolab 3500 speaker as well if you wish - you also have the option of using several speakers in different rooms with the converter as the 1611 converter acts like a B&O "master product" to control multiple speakers.

Hi, Yes, I can help! Simply connect the cable in the link below from a spare Powerlink output on the B&O system to the RCA input on the subwoofer:- soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/16-96-powerlink-to-non-bo-subwoofer-din-to-phono.html#/2-length-1m If your subwoofer has two input sockets, please connect both plugs on the cable, otherwise either plug can be used if the subwoofer only has one input socket (Please use the Line In sockets, not the LFE Sockets). Set the subwoofer volume to approx. 50-75% and then adjust it as required to match the level of your other speakers. The subwoofer volume can now be controlled automatically from the B&O remote along with the other speakers.

The connection issue I am trying to solve is retaining a digital source through to a digital speaker. My source is a computer. It has audio 7.1 on the HDMI graphics card and 5.1 analogue and digital stereo on a USB audio card. Potentially looking at Beolab 18, 20 or 28 for rear and front.

Hi, there is often no real advantage in keeping a digital signal to the speakers, also not all devices can send the correct digital signals to these speakers with regulated volume. Please can you email me at soundsheavenly.com to let me know the full model number of the graphics card and the final choice of speakers? I can then advise how to connect everything for the best results.

Hi Steve. I got a question you might be able to help me with. I got a Beocenter 9300 connected to a pair of Beovox Pentas, for use in the bedroom. It sounds really good, but the Beocenters amplifier is not poweful enough. So i bought a Beomaster 6500 ( im still working on how to connect those two amps best way, so i can use the cd player in Bc 9300 you can proberbly help me with that to ) but BM gets really warm!! And the sound quality is dissapointing. The bass responce is out of control, and the purr clean sound i got from Bc 9300 is not there. I know theres somthing wrong with it, and i can get it fixed for 150 £ witch im willing to do if i the sound gets better, when the overheating gets fixed. So the question is, is the Beomaster 6500 a good or better amplifier soundwise, than the Beocenter?
@soundsheavenly
Жыл бұрын
Hi, this certainly sound like a fault on the Beomaster, I suggest asking your local B&O dealer if they can suggest a good repairer. Whilst this is a more powerful amp than the Beocenter, it still won't power your passive Pentas to their full capabilities. By far the best option is to look for a pair of active Beolab Pentas (ideally the later mk.2 or mk.3 versions with Powerlink sockets) as these will play far better than their passive versions. Please ask at soundsheavenly.com if you need any help with cables!

@@Lennart942 Power consumption of the Beolab 200 is minimal when not in use, when playing it only draws the power that the speakers need. However, it has the capability to drive these incredible speakers to their full potential, it really is the best option if you can find a pair of these amps, they are perfect for Pentas!

Hi, Beosound 9000 is the 6 x CD player, this has data outputs on the Powerlink sockets to light up the displays on Beolab Penta mk.2 and mk.3 speakers, but it cannot control a Beogram turntable via remote control like earlier systems as it doesn't provide data on the Aux socket.

Steve, I am sorry. We don't need cables anymore. All BANG & OLUFSEN's products are wireless nowadays.
@supersonicboy75
3 жыл бұрын
The full-proof and reliable way is to use wires. Wireless is not always reliable and there are limitations on the bit depth and sampling frequency carried by WISA. To resolve networking issues, one could invest time and money in a mesh system but that would be vastly more expensive and convoluted than wiring and even then won’t be 100% reliable.

All of B&O's current multiroom speakers have wireless options, but they perform better and give more connectivity potential when used with cables - whether that is to the router or to your other music sources. Keep them purely wireless and they may be convenient, but they may not be giving your the full capabilities that you paid for when you purchased them...

Great info, so I'm curious is it possible to use bluetooth to run an extra pair of penta 3 speakers I have. Either to run from my first set of penta 3 speakers, or from my beosound 9000. any Ideas would be great
@soundsheavenly
Жыл бұрын
The only wireless option that actually works to link these speakers to the Beosound is the B&O Transmitter 1/Receiver 1 system which you would need to buy directly from B&O, this costs more than the speakers are worth. Cheaper options like Bluetooth won't work here, so I don't support them. Please let me know if you decide to buy the correct wireless system from B&O and I can help with cables. I recommend using direct cables to the speakers, as this is much cheaper and works well - even if you need to ask a local tradesman to hide the cables and make the room tidy afterwards. Please ask if you need any help with cables for either option.
