Hi! Great video!! Just a heads-up... Apparently Banco 24 is not a Banco do Brasil subsidiary. Instead, the main shareholders are Itau, Bradesco and other major banks 🙂

What things do you need Brazilian bank account to do? Rent apartment, purchase property? Can everything else in Brazil be paid with cash or credit card if you don't have a Brazilian banco account?
@thebrazilianexpat4041

No Brazilian bank account needed to buy, sell or rent property. Like I mentioned in the video, use Wise to transfer money, or a normal bank transfer. For renting property PayPal is also an option.

@@thebrazilianexpat4041 when you say "rent", do you mean to collect rental income or to pay your rent?

I too had the same thing happen with my debit card in the Rio airport. I got a fraud alert the next night. i lost no money but had to get a new credit card, so it was annoying. i am usually very careful with my debit card and only use it to withdrawal money, and usually from a bank machine. i was simply tired from traveling and i had a slip up.

Hopefully you didn’t loose to much! It’s easy to make this mistake, but hopefully you only make the mistake once! 😊

I think you may have missed a couple of thing about the Red ATM machines. My experience with the in the bank ATM are very limited to the amount you can withdraw with a international debit card. For example sometime only 400 Reals and I had occasions where they have no money. I agree when choosing a Red ATM should be in a well monitored place. I found in a Matos Grocery store they seem to be safe. They are alway observed and regularly checked and restocked. Also I can withdraw 1000 Reals and I used a debit card that pays back the fees. I found with this I send only 2 dollars per 1000 Reals and I get very close the the daily rate exchange. I did find your video has good information thank

Unfortunately, I am stuck with the ever popular red ATM`s because my lawyers are now going on 5 months to get my Permanent Residency Visa by Spouse. Without that I cannot open up a Brazilian Bank account, so I have no choice.😎

Good information, isn’t much available about the money issues. I’m planning to move to Brazil soon, have my residence already and a place to stay. The problem is Transferring money to Bzl without loosing doing it. Bank transfers are a rip-off the others option like Remitly or Wise have a limit (monthly and 180 days), I’ll need money every month to survive plus for others thing, like buying a car or investing and land/property or else.. let me know if there’s a way can you be contact any other way?

I know this isnt the video to ask this on but do you need to have a visa either temp or permenant to buy land and build a house? My family and I want to live in brazil full time eventually and we want to go down the invesment visa route as we arent brazilian nationals. We are thinking of starting off by living 3-6 months in brazil first and see if we like it to proceed with visas

What’s the status of NU bank? How are the people and you yourself personally think about NU BANK?
@Javra88

The NU bank is stable and is not at risk of bankruptcy, many Brazilians have accounts there. Only bad thing is that it doesn't give cashback or miles
