Does this help smooth the frets out as well? I have some frets that feel rough when bending and I was wondering if this would help make bending feel smoother and easier.

Yes, definitely the lowest grit (180) works really well for removing scratches and smoothening sharp ends, just rub them little by little very gently. Of course a metal file would do the job quicker.

@@AleArzMusic are you able to achieve lower action with this process?
@AleArzMusic
Жыл бұрын
Well no, these are very helpful to remove scratches and polish the frets, but lower action always can be achieved by adjusting the truss rod and the strings' and pickups' height.

Very satisfying to watch. 😂 Polished frets make guitar feel better than brand new guitar. This video is great encouragement to those who have never done this work! 🤘🤘🤘

Thank you very very very much, my friend! I'm still an amateur guitar tech, but these fret erasers just blew my mind, the frets just came back to life! I'll be doing the same to all of my guitars!
Cool video. Mineral oil works well also. Recommended by one of the master luthier at Fodera.

I’ve always used a cape cod cloth which is marketed for jewelry polish. That works really well but I’m gonna give these a shot

Great stuff! I'm planning on buying one of these! Do you think it's worth it to go for the up to 2000 grits kit or does 1000 does the job done when polishing?

Hi thank you! Yes you can go up to 2000 and even more, it comes to personal taste

You can see how much these rubbers got worn down after just one whole-neck cleaning cycle. How many complete fretboard re-polishes do you think you could get out of this set before it needs replacing?
@AleArzMusic

At the moment I've done 7 guitars, full cleaning cycles for each grit, the 180 is at 70% I'd say, 400 at 80%, 1000 at 90%, they all have grown a very pleasant groove along their length, plus there's also the other side! Awesome product!

Nice job. I use super fine 0000 steel wool and does the trick and it's cheap.
@AleArzMusic

Thank you. I don't use it as all the micro particles of steel wool tend to stick into the pickups

Is there a difference between the Dunlop lemon oil and Dunlop fretboard conditioner? Obviously both will condition the fretboard but was wondering if there is a difference between the two

I honestly don't know. I have only used the lemon oil

Think of wood on a guitar as furniture. Naphtha/Lighter Fluid is a great cleaning solution & mineral oil just hydrates the wood. Don't over oil your fretboard or it can loosen the glue. But just treat your guitar as any other wood made items. These companies always put a spin on things & just cause confusion. Tung oil is great for maple necks & the only reason you would not use lemon oil or mineral oil is because the maple has some kind of sealant. Where it be lacquer, linseed oil, varnish, or tung oil. Also every playing or handling your guitars just wipe it down with a dry cloth.

@@AleArzMusic if that’s the only problem can’t you just tape off the pickups? But I have some of these erasers and I’m going try them out. I just a little cautious because my Les Paul’s have fret nibs (fret binding) and I’m wondering how this will affect them. Your thoughts?
