I had never seen prime before in all the videos I’ve watched on his channel... but I must say, he’s exactly as I pictured him. Great video as always.

Great job on building your machine! That said, as a carpenter, I think you're wrong about MDF and using a nail gun. MDF is perfect for an arcade build, and glue and nailing is a great way to build. It looks like the main problem you had was attaching side and front panels directly together. If you would have used a backing strip to glue and nail to you wouldn't have had most of the problems you ran into.

I would have suggested glueing wooden blocks inside with PVA glue for extra bracing. This would have been much stronger and a lot less ugly to say nothing of reducing the risk of splitting the wood with screws.

Another option would be to use a Kreg Pocket jig. No glue required, and the joints are incredibly strong. Nice tool to have around, if you are going to build more of these cabinets.. You would also need some squares to make sure your 45 degree angles are...square. Great video.

my tip is, unless youre planning on finishing it with t molding, the wood doesnt need to be very thick, 3/8 is fine

You can use some Velcro strips to attach the controller board to the cabinet. That should make it easily removable. Nice tutorial, looks like it is a lot of fun.

If you crack the wood a little you can just fill it and sand it. I just put a cab together and the wood cracked in a few spots and I'm fixing it now. Not noticeable at all.

This question is unrelated to this video but, I recently got a Pi 3 and setup RetroPie but I am having issue with audio dropping out at random on games. Have you experienced this? Based on some forum posts I don't think I'm alone. Would overclocking help? Thanks and great channel!

Just a stab in the dark, but could it be a temperature issue? Do you run your Pi 3 with a heatsink and fan?
@Schmeck626
8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply. I do have heatsinks installed, but no fan. However, I believe that I have figured out my problem. I was pulling audio from HDMI and I needed to go into the config file and force HDMI for audio. It was set to auto and I suspect that the system was switching between the audio jack and HDMI at random. I haven't had any problems since I made that switch.

Schmeck626 Glad you got it figured out! I wonder if there's a short in your audio jack that was causing it to "hijack" the audio signal periodically?
